your better off waiting REspeed has a rack kit they are working on it might give you enough help that you dont need a power steering.

Oh, now you want to know how

Get a P/S box from either a Gsl-Se or GSL,hoses, pump and mounting bracket and the appropriate belt adjuster, belt and install.

All 1st gen steering boxes bolt in the same place.

In the 84-5 FSM, there is a diagram of the complete ps system. Link is in my sig line. When I did my swap, I changed the steering column also. Some say it's needed some say it isn't.

If you change the column I believe that the 84-85 steering wheel is needed also. Correct if I am wrong but I believe the shaft is different.

Hey trochoid, I have a sucker, I mean friend, who has a 84 GSL-LE that wants to trade me the PS stuff off his car, for a non PS box from a 81 parts car I have. I looked at the mounting bracket for the PS and AC on the 13B. It looks like the AC sits higher, and the AC lines are different. So, you think that I could make this work on my 83 GSL 12A?

AC lines are different on some models due to using different brands of ac compressors on the dealer installed ac kits. Even the 2nd gens have that issue with factory installed ac using 2 different brands of compressors and line sets..

Mounting brackets are intechangeable, as are the ac lines and compressor lines to the firewall and condensor. You need the lines that came with each different compressor.

I just now noticed that you have a 79. There is a bracket welded to the tube between the frame rails that holds the cooling loop for the ps system. I don't know if the SAs have that bracket or not. You will need one.

I would change the entire column and steering wheel too.

Ok. But can I use my AC compressor and lines with the PS/AC bracket from the GSL-LE?

If you are refeering to the pump and hoses those can be bought thru Black dragon. As far as the steering box you would not want to see what the price would be on a new one.
