What would it mean if it does not whoosh when one opens the cap after it's been
running?

68, how's that Falcon running? A little paint and upkeep on that puppy might be easier than the 7.

Just kidding, keep up the good work and be patient, eventually everything will be fixed, although you might just have to live with those wipers.

the falcons running real good. im gonna start driving it to school during the winter and going to paint the 7 black and redo the interior in black as well my self. the only reason i got the 7 was so i could have something to drive while i worked on the falcon, and a 50 dollar car was perfect. but then i ended up liking the 7 more than the falcon. so theres nothin i can do with the wipers, and the cables that go to the back glass, i just re solder them to the glass or what?

No and Yes, but very carefully...might be a good idea to "tin" the coiled wire side first...

In electronics before you solder a wire to a connector you often "tin" the wire before soldering the wire to a connector. When you "tin" the wire you heat up the end of the wire (with a soldering iron) and then touch a bit of solder to the hot wire. The idea is a bit of solder melts and soaks in to the gaps in the small wires that are twisted together to form the whole wire.

The idea is that (in the next step) when you apply heat and solder to the wire while it is touching the connector you don't have to apply as much solder. This means you can do this second part faster. This means you are applying heat to the connector for a shorter length of time.

Some components can be damaged if you keep them heated for too long. When you look at the spec sheet for a computer chip it should have heat ranges and times listed. (There will be a few ranges: operating range eg -5 to +60 degrees, storage range eg -30 to +70 degrees, and soldering range eg max 10 seconds at 300 degrees.)

Sometimes plastic near the connector will melt. Other times the metal tracks you see running on the surface of Printed Circuit Boards will just curl right up off the surface when they get hot.

I think the term "tin" comes from the composition of electrical solder being about %60 tin and %40 lead. (Wash your hands after handling solder.)
