84 se weber/ no start.

okay guys heres my dillema. i decided to let my car chill out for about a week and didnt drive it or start it at all for about 4 days. that was last saturday or so. SO yesterday (friday) i go to start it and nothing, but something is a little strange about the cranking, it doesnt sound normal, normal sounding like bum bum bum bum bum etc... but mine is just one long whirring sound. like wirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... i hope you can picture this in your head. up to this day i had no problems starting it, i checked spark, its okay, i checked fuel, its okay. what could it be? from just sitting for 4 days? i dont understand

sounds like the starter isnt even hitting the flywheel. hit the starter a few times with something, see if that helps.

yeah im positive i am, cause after about 15 seconds or so of cranking, it floods it out, of course. but my main concern is the noises that it makes while cranking

My second gen sounds like that when it's flooded. It floods out so bad that the motor can't make any compression. Pull out the plugs and shut off the fuel pump. Then crank it over a couple times in 10 second spurts. Put the plugs back in and it will probably start right up.

Clear out the fuel, Put your plugs back in and spray some starting fluid in each carb opening. About 4-6 seconds in each opening and give it a whirl. Much easier than putting all kinds of strain on your starting system.
