84 FB Flooding problems

I got a super sweet 84 FB back in March. It is my daily driver and I must say it rocks. It's got headers and a holley 4 barrell carb and although it isn't the fastest off the line, on the highway I can rule. It tends to backfire quite often and I was curious if that causes any engine problems over time. Also it tends to flood a lot. At first I pulled the plugs and pushed or rolled it while in 5th gear to spew out the gas. Now when I crank it I just keep the key turned and after what seems like forever the rotors spark and it fires. I don't mind doing that as long as I'm not causing any bigger problems. I was curious if it floods because I turn the engine off too soon after stopping. Should I let it idle for 10 or 15 seconds before turning the key off? Anyway, this car is the sweetest thing ever. I just bought a $400 1990 FC I want to fix up. I can't wait to get that one going. Any advice would be appreciated. RX7's rule!

Take the small steps first before the big ones, get the Holley tuned correctly. It may not even be the correct Holley for a rotary, lot of those running around,

In my sig line is link to the FSMs and other rotary reading. DL what you need and begin your rotary education.
