IA 83 RX7 project

Well here is my new project... 1983 RX7 It was in a bit of ruff shape.

It was winking at me. I got it for a steel $500.00 and it runs and drives, I had to reassemble the dash and fix the head lights in the upright position. I also installed a large touch screen DVD player and 4 Rockford Fosgate 12" punch speakers and pushed by 3600 watts.

I am looking at installing an oil cooler, electric fan, and have been toying with the idea of turbo charging the 12A. I have a turbo from an old turbo TA that pushes 16.5 pounds of boost, I figure that should be plenty for this toy.

Still messing with this idea in my head, this is a budget project, I have 5 kids and a wife LoL so the budget is small as possible.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

where abouts in IA are you? I am in Omaha. I can help you out with the oil cooler and front turn signal lense and headlight rods if you need em (from looking at the pic).

yeh getting it replaced I an working on a shell of a body kit and fiber glassing it so the bumper doesn't concern me that much. Like I said I got it for $500 it drives down the road and it needs some cosmetic things done. the big problem is that the last owner thought he was a drift king and slid the thing into a ditch. I have the carb tuned good and she spits fire like a dragon when I get on her, also just ordered a high flow exhaust with a silencer so we will see if that changes the tune a bit from the cherry bomb and straight pipe with a tune tip to something a bit more tuned. I like how it sounds now but I want it to be more tuned and not so... just loud.

Found that the front bearings had been overloaded and needing replaced, got new Timken bearings installed and putthe correct grease in, someone had put regular grease from a grease gun in them and they didn't even look like they had been packed correctly, I wonder what else I will find that is done half a$$ like this...

I figured I would turn the rotors while I had them out also.

Do you own the rotor lathe? I used to work at Autozone in the early 2000's and we had one. All the stores got rid of them by 2005 I think. Pisses me off that I have to buy a new $50 rotor when the old ones would be just fine if I could get them turned for $8.

I am a mechanic at a shop and we have one here that will do both rotors and drums, I have to wait until Tuesday to do my drums because I am waiting on brake shoes from autozone... pads too but there is enough pad to get me by a few more weeks if not more its just they are down to 2/32 now and should be changed.

Got new brake pads and shoes in. Went to take the rear apart and the shoes had no wear on them at all. HMMMMM looked a bit further and found this on the parking brake cable and it was restricting the self adjusters from adjusting out and letting the shoes do there job...

Also got my new Fosgate box in looks nice but it will look a lot better with the subs and amps mounted.

So I want to add a mechanical oil pressure gauge to my set up is there a good secondary location to put the after market probe in the engine to get a oil pressure reading off it. I would like to keep the electrical one also.
