83-85 12a Oil Cooler seals

The oil cooler on my 1984 GS is leaking pretty bad. I need to pull it off and replace the o-rings. But, I can't find anyone that lists the parts. I'm sure I can find something that will fit, but I'd like to find the correct information about spec'ing a size. Anyone out there know where I can find them listed, or at least knows the correct spec?

Thanks,

Demersus

if you just take them off then go to like lowe's or something and you can get like 15 for like 1.88 just get the ones that would be the same size as yours if they werent flattened out....

Some hardware stores carry o-rings too, you need 4.

Just bring your oil pedestal at OSH. Thats where I got mine. Be sure to use gasket dressing on the o-ring and oil pedestal so it wont move during installation

Hylomar does a good job of keeping them in place too. Don't recommend vasoline, it can make the swell.

I'm sorry, but you walked right into that one.

None of your local pick and pulls have them?

LOL, missed the M, didn't I. Personally I prefer sliding in, if I can walk in,.....well.....

Pick and pull for what? Not following that one. I take the pedistal to the store and size the o-ring diameter a hair smaller than the indent for them. It will fill when the the o-ring is torqued down. Either metric or standard, makes no difference, thickness should be 3/32-1/8"

I just matched the o-rings to fit the pedistal, and used a small bit of silicone to hold them in place while I set the pedistal into place.
Most auto parts stores, and hardware stores, will have assortments of o-rings. Just find the size that fits into the recess, and is thicker than the recess is deep.
