83 12A No power

Let sit for 2 years
Started and idled good, but would hesitate when revved.
Accelerated good thru 1st and 2nd gear, then would barely run.
I rebuilt the carb and cleaned the fuel tank and lines and replace all fluids.
Now it starts and idles good and revs smooth.
But, no power even though rpms are high when accelerating. It acts llike I have the brake on, but the brakes aren't dragging. Clutch isn't slipping. Plugs look good.

Any suggestions?

How did it run before it was parked?

From this and your other post: Did/Have you:?

Changed the fuel fiter.
Was the tank drained, dropped and professionally cleaned.
Rodded out the metal pickup supply tube that goes inside the fuel tank.
Taken the carb completely apart during the rebuild and soaked it at least 24 hour
Cleaned/removed the 4 filter screens inside the carb.
Run a fuel flow test.
Checked the sight glass windows to see if the fuel level is remaining constant.
Checked the exhaust/cats for restriction/plugging.

If you haven't downloaded the FSM and carb manual yet, the link is in my sig.

Yes it was running good when I parked it. It just took me two years to take the time to replace the clutch master cylinder.

No. Other than sticking my hand over the exhaust, how should I do this?

It was a stuck throttle position sensor. It runs great now.

Nice catch on the troube shooting. Most members don't know that the carbs have a tps. You don't rreally need it if you strip the carb down and remove the emissions. If you want to keep it stock or need emissions, it usually never presents a problem or requires adjustment. Truth be told, I never would have suspected it. Thanks for posting back the solution, it benifits all of us.

Keeping things staight. The TPS on the carb is not the same type that is on the 2nd gen.... Lol... Carbs dont have electrical connections that go to a computer to determine the air fuel mix...

Need more of a decription and details about your problem, what you've done so far, conditions when it happens, where the gas is coming from, etc..

In my sig is a link to the online FSMs and carb manual. Download both and familiarize yourself with the Nikki carb. The more you can help us, the better we can help you narrow down the problem without having to troubleshoot eveything on the carb or the entire fuel system. Year of car and mods will help too.

Welcome to the forum and the Darkside.

How did you diagnose the TPS?

How did you fix/replace the TPS?

I went through all of the adjustments in the carb manual. When I got to the adjustment for the TPS, I found it was sticking. I took it off and sprayed it with contact cleaner until it quit sticking.
