Unhappy 83 12a FLOAT STUCK?

So I rolled my 1983 out of the shop today and fired it up, It been sitting for about 4 months and when I started it I had smoke, crappy idle and rough running, But it started right up. upon inspection I found Fuel ABUDUNZA. So after reading the Flooding FAQ I am looking at the vent solenoid or stuck floats. I would like to not have to crack the Carb open as the car has ALWAYS run GREAT and stated like a top for 53,000 miles. What do you think? I generally start it about once a month during winter storage but was involved with a house project this winter and did not do it (BAD OWNER SLAP). I did start the 3rd gen Twin but the battery was dead in the 82 and I (like a dumb a$$) loaned my charger out never to be seen again.
So after taking a beating for my neglect do you have any words of advice for me in the great flood of 08?
I pulled plugs and cleaned with Starting fluid. ( wll replace with new)

What's you question how to un-flood or whats causing it to flood? Look threw the sight glass and tell us where the fuel is after you turn the key and hear the fuel pump. Might take a few cycles!

Are the barrells filling up after you shut it down or while it's running?

I just rebuilt mine and it's doing the same thing. All the barrels on the carburetor fill up like crazy while the car is running, or even if I just have the key in the on position and the fuel pump is running. I've done some research and I think that you are right on in your assumption. It's got to be either the vent solenoid on the driver's side of the carb, clogged emulsion tubes, or stuck floats/needle valves.

I'm going to try fixing all three of these issues on my rebuild and see what happens. I removed the vent solenoid at the advice of others, and I'm thinking now that this is the reason I'm having the problem. I'm gonna hook it back up and see what she does. Let me know if you find out what your problem is.

Also, it never hurts to clean out the check valve in the return fuel line

Unhappy What I see

After I had it started I had fuel in both of the larger barrel of the carb and the little triangle shaped bowl next to the solenoid. I let it sit for an hour or so and when I looked in the window on the float bowl I could see the top of the float sitting at an angle. I turned on the key fo a few seconds and now I cannot see anything except fuel level at the top of the window. I did not get fuel filling the bowls or the little resivour again. I may not have left it on long enough to start spewing into the barrels.
I am looking for advice on how to unstick them or troubleshoot the solenoid.
I have cleaned out a flood one time on each of my 82 and 93 successfully so that is not an issue. I would like to not have to take the carb apart if possible as it has ALWAYS RAN GREAT. I think it's a simple issue.
Just looking for some input on whats worked for the masses.
I can redo the carb if required but I would rather not if I can get it running in another way.

Ok I just went back out there and I pulled the top two plugs also and cranked it a few dozen times and now I do not have fuel in the barrels and the float window is a little over 1/2 full of fuel. I will bake off the plugs and try it again.

Sometimes the float pivots stick a little and the float hangs up. Usually a little tapping with a screwdriver handle on the float chamber frees it up.
