Talking 82 Base model....what is it worth?

I'm looking at a 82 RX7 base model.....It is in excellent condition!

Has only 33,000 miles on it.

It is an automatic?

What is a price range for a car like this?

The guy that is selling it wants $7000.00 for it

The automatics seem to be rare but do they add or subtract from the value?

Thanks

subtract for the auto.
find a nice one with a 5 speed and 140k for $1500 if you want a first gen.

Thats worth $4000 max, even considering the mileage.

Well, if you wear a short short skirt and are afraid that you might show that you're not wearing panites when you shift, buy it, for half of what the seller is asking. While the autos are rare, many owners change them over to a 5 speeds. The only thing going for this base auto is the mileage. The car would need to be in super mint condition, with all records and history, provenance, to even get to the 4-5k range.

82 RX7 automatic

Thanks for the info!!!!

Even though the car is exceptionally clean, the automatic keeps making me ask WHY?????

The automatic IMO is like putting ketchup on a good steak.

I think I will keep looking and in the meantime I will enjoy driving and shifting my 90 Miata 5 speed.

Thanks again.

The autos are notorious for feeling VERY slow. It just zaps the power from the rotary engine. This is pretty much true for any RX-7, not just the FB's.

The RX8 as well. Talk him down to about 3200 and buy a 5 speed for it.

Miatas are fun little cars.

But the steering wheel hits my thighs. My rebuilt rx-7 is as fast as the new miata that I test drove. Miata handled much much better. Would upgrading/refubishing hte suspension make my RX-7 handle like that miata.

$7 K?? the seller must love that rx-7.
