Car is a 79 RX7 that I am trying to do a front brake pad replacement on. I have new pads, hardware kit from Atkins rotary, new flexible brake lines. I had a Hayes manual for the car but can't seem to find it and from some of the threads Ive found and read the Hayes manual is not all that great. I have also researched the following link https://www.wright-here.net/files/ma...(11)Brakes.pdf looking for a FSM for a 79 but could only find a FSM for an 80. Thinking these would be the same I looked up the Front brake replacement but the description and photos show a lower bolt on the caliper itself which he removes from the exterior face of the caliper (which I do not have) I do have the lower 14mm bolt that has to be accessed between the steering knuckle and the back of the strut plate. There is also a 14mm on the top back side of the strut plate. I originally removed the top bolt thinking maybe the caliper will pivot down and hinge on the lower bolt. I have come across a few different threads that say you don't need to remove the lower bolt the sits between the steering knuckle and strut plate unless you are removing/replacing rotors. Then some say you have to remove the lower bolt to then pivot the caliper up out of the way to get to the retainer clips and brake pads?
Before I locate / purchase an offset 14mm wrench to try to remove the lower bolt, I wanted to make sure this is necessary for replacing pads? I have replaced brakes (pads & shoes) on lots of different cars in the past but this is my first rx7 and am embarrassed to say is not as straight forward as most brake jobs seem to be. If anyone has any directions or notes they would be greatly appreciated. I am including some photos of the brake caliper on my 79 and the lower bolt the sits between the steering knuckle.
Normally, there are small spring clips, like a hitch pin that go in each hole to keep the wedge in place. (both top and bottom wedges) Remove the clips and drive the wedge out with a hammer and pin punch. The caliper is then free.

Thanks, I had already removed those before I took Pics thinking that those plates may have needed to come out. Just wasn't sure on how to do that, but with the copied pages from Hayns manuel was a very easy job. Im Also replace both the inner / outer tie rob ends and adjusting sleeves and the sway. bar links before I button it all up and bleed/fush the entire brake system. Ive already replace the brake master cylinder. The brake shoe level was ok in the back so I'll probably take a little break before I replace those as well. Ive got the bolts off the sway bar links but cannot seem to get the bolt to drop out of the bottom, not much room to get a decent hit from the top. Not sure if I should take my sawzall to and try to cut through it and see if I can get it release that way?
