yeah, too close!

I picked up the engine at the weekend. Me and JP got it out in exactly 1 hour, not my best time, but hey it was a Saturday.

I want to paint the engine bay now and get the subframe on. engine in and front suspension mounted. Then the brake kit should be here from ReSpeed and I can fit that too. The rear axle looks ******* beautiful, I must get some pictures up. Not long before she's on wheels. What wheels I don't know, as I haven't got any 5 studs knocking around. Have to do some pilfering.

rubbed back the paint and did a top coat tonight, it's pretty agricultural, but hey, it's white and that'll do for now.

I never want to paint another rollcage in my life... what a nightmare! More runs than a criket team. So little patients, so little temper, so little skill.

at least I didn't get any overspray on my engine HAHAHAHA!! give me bull in a china shop. Took me ages to get the runs like that. Yep, your right, you can't fix paint with a spanner, so I can't fix it.

Anyway, your tank fits in the back of my car so there. The cable ties are for "sighting only" I know... we don't need that conversation again... still won best moddified car of the show though

titanium door cards, how trick is that!
half shafts and discs drilled to 5 stud
springs and FC bits fitted (Re-Speed kit is an absolute must for anyone, Superb!)
Wings are getting some much needed attention.
Wiring might have to be confronted at some point... been putting it off for a long time now.

Good day today, bit of a grim start as I had been up until 2:30am with Finite and Breed working on his car... what a traitor!

However the moment has come to introduce you to my stock 12A motor... in original rusty brown. It's in, what a result. I've got the 13B FC N/A gearbox in and I'm gonna make the modifications to the hanger to fit it on Monday. The rear axle is in, just need a few bits an pieces to finish the anti roll bar and the Panhard link. I think I need to give the third link a little tweak, but I can't be sure until I've got the prop on and the car is at ride height.

Almost all the panels are ready for paint and the head light conversion is coming along nicely. Need to get all the "finishing" bits sorted, like the right length bolts and spacers etc. All well and good throwing it together, but it's got to be right first time out, so I want to take a little more care with the final fit. Don't want to be half way to Germany and realise I never did do that thing up

Paper work came through, there must be an angel at DVLA that took my pleading letter into consideration. Yippie! I'm the owner of my car

Anyway, I'm going to put a few more hours in over at Silver String's workshop tonight and then get back on it on Monday (bank holiday)

Well, we had to make a decision about weather or not both cars were going to make it to Germany. They weren't. The only way one car was going to make it was if ALL of us worked on one car rather than half on one car and half on the other. It was ment to be String's stag-do, so it was only right that we finished his car and shelved mine. The idea took a lot of geting used to, but I bit my lip and closed my workshop doors. Gutted.

We made it to Germany, me in the passenger's seat. What an amazing time, the Ring was everything it was cracked up to be and more. We all loved it. String's engine let go on the last corner of the track. It detonated so hard that 5 of the tips were missing when he limped it in to the car park. Never mind. It was a chapter in our lives

So here we are again. Nurburgring the week begining 13th April 2009. Need to finish the car.

I've done a few bits and pieces on the first gen, but since the last ring trip I've been busy getting a new job and moving in with my girlfriend. All the distractions!! I'm starting work on the car again, and this time it's going to Germany!!
