245/45/15 Tires with 15x8 Rims?

Hello everyone,

there's a local seller that has some panasport reps for sale with 245/45/15 tire setup on a 15x8 rim. It is the 4x110 bolt pattern and I am unsure what the offset is. He said that he had got this for his datsun but the bolt pattern didn't work. Evidently these are for our 1st gens but I have never heard or seen on the forum anyone running such a wide tire. I believe most people run a 205-225/50/15 max on a regular setup with no wide body kit. I have adjustable coil overs all around and was wondering if it's possible to make these fit. My guess is the front will probably not work but what about the rear?

Rear might fit. The front on the stock suspension would not. With your coilovers

I saw the same add. Offset is 10mm. Too big for my ITA standard fender car but ok for my EP car with flares. I would have considered them but they aren't actual Panasports and an inch wider than rules allow.

In the rear, I think with the 10mm offset they will run into the lip since they will project out quite a bit. Think you will need more than a rolled lip but actually cut the fender and get some flares.

As far as the fronts I think it would be the same unless you run extreme camber.

So if I could get them at a good price, would it be worth picking them up understanding I might have to replace all the tires with smaller ones? I mean, the guy said to throw him an offer so I figure it's worth the drive there with my rx7 to try them out and see how they fit on the car. The final price would all be based if they fit or not with the current tires setup.

did u check to see if the offset is stamped on the back side of the wheel? i've seen them with both dia/width and offset. a 225 width may possibly rub the fenders in the front in turns. i have 205 with no issues on stock suspension.

Per the other members comment above, they are 10mm as he also saw the posting.

Can you post a picture of the wheel/tire? I was considering the same size tires but unsure how it looks. Thanks!

Btw, if you have the SE bolt pattern, there's a guy selling a set of 15x7 panasport near you.

245/45 seems pretty wide for an 8" wheel. 225/45 is a much better fit, especially with newer performance tires that treat size as more of a guideline.

I agree Peejay, those tires would do me no good even in the rear since it does not seem they would work without rubbing or hitting. My uncle is running 15x8 with a 195/50/15 in front and a 205/50/15 in the rear. He is really happy with the setup but advised he needs to roll the fenders in front since they rub (even with a coil over setup). My guess is that he should of gone with a 45 series all around to avoid the need to roll the fenders.

I currently have 245s in the rear mounted on 15x8 wheels, and I've also run 225s mounted on the same 15x8 wheels. I liked the 225s better. More balanced adhesion F - R, and the car felt livelier. This is in a car with a lightly modified 12A, so the HP is limited.

As for fitment, I rolled the fender lips, and there are no clearance issues with the 245s. My car's a 1984, so your situation may be different.

Also, I run 205/50-15 tires in the front, with no fender rolling or clearance issues.

Thanks Elwood, this helps a lot. The 245's you are running; is that with a 45 or 50 series tire height?

mine has 225/50/15's on 15x7's with a 7 offset. mine isn't that low, so stock fender lips.
i think there is room for a 15x8, it would need to have like a 25 offset or something, and then maybe a 245 fits too?

I answered the same ad. If u do decide to buy them make sure there actually 4x110. Cuz the guy is not really sure what size he has. Rim shop told him there 4x110. Probably 4x108 with one hole oval out. Which is cool still works. I think he wants way too much for reps. Perfect off set tho. But don't think the tires will fit.

Yeah, I agree I would need to take rx7 and try them out in person before proceeding. He was not sure what car they came off of. Realistically these would only be on a 1st gen with a wide body kit because I didn't read that a single person has ran this specific tire size in the front or rear in stock form.
