2 Stage 2 turbos for free, 2 Rx7, 12a and 13b

I was confronted today buy a friends bro that also loves rx7s he owns a blue gsl-se 84(he is on this forum forget name though,I post later). He tells me that he will give me a stage two turbo for my 12a if I do the labour for installing a different stage 2 into his 13b, he will cover all expenses on the 13b. Now I don't know if taking upon a deal like that is a good idea. Not sure what i am getting into however I do know a fair ammount about mechanics(apprentice heavy duty mechanic) and have done my fair share of rx7 studiing. Free turbo for me, free install for him. He knows what needs to be done for the rx7 and breafly described to me. I am looking for imput here such as, is a turbo worth doing something like that, how well will a turbo work on a 12a carbed, what kind of carb will i need. As far as i am concerned these are the pros and cons

Pros
-Love working(playing with) on rx7's(first gen love it)
-well, free turbo
-already planned to buy a carb and accessories for carb

Cons
-Do not know what a stage 2 turbo is worth and Do not know what kind of performance i can get out of it with my 12a
-Do not know how big of a job it can be to install and get tuned on a 13b
-Do not know what parts i need for the 12a and how much money to be spent, 13b parts are listed and will be paid for.

Tell me, if you know your **** tell me as much as you can, thanks!

12a turbo is comparatively easy... I don't know much about the 13b setup though, FI isn't my specialty.

For the 12a turbo, you need to have your carb "turbo prepped" so that you can put a turbo hat on it and blow through.

Your first stop should be the FAQ, where I found a bunch of turbo-related threads. They might not all be specific to your applications, but reading as much as you can on the topic will help you out in the long run:

i hate when people say "oh its a stage 2 turbo". k...so what the hell does THAT mean.

i would look at the car and see what condition it in and research what it requires. Its not a easy ordeal and if its some cheap *** ebay turbo i wouldnt do it.

Long list of turbo stuff and no link to my car

Here's a list of just about everything you need for a carb'd 12a turbo

13b TII manifold, grind holes to match 12a gasket(or a different manifold if not using a TII turbo)
If using a TII turbo port the wastegate unless you want boost creep
-3 or -4 oil feed line, oil drain line 1/2" or bigger(I'd suggest 3/4 or 1")
Upgraded clutch
GSL-SE fuel pump or better
Fuel pressure regulator with vacuum/boost compensation port
Modified stock carb or weber
BOV(not needed but helps the turbo last longer and stay spooled during shifts)
Intercooler(not needed but will make more power and last longer with one)
Custom exhaust 2.5" or 3"
Remove springs for mechanical advance in distributor and disconnect vacuum lines from vacuum advance
You can use the stock ignition but I'd suggest a MSD 6a box or better

Pick up a couple spare 12a trannys if you drive it like I do, or get a TII tranny if you don't want the tranny to break. The 12a tranny will last a while under 200ft/lbs, but it's just a matter of time before it breaks.

I dyno'd my car, stock 12a engine, TII turbo, 12psi, stock timing(with no advance) 170rwhp 180ft/lbs, this was with no fan on the dyno on the 3rd run in a row. I can't wait until I get my bigger turbo and after that I'll be porting the engine
