I know this is not exactly the correct place to post this, but I really, really wanna see someone here buy this car and treat it right. If I wasn't all the way out in chicago I would buy it in a heartbeat. In fact, i'm downright pissed I can't have it as a collectible . Oh well.
someone please buy it:

I don't know, don't have the heart to call since I know I can't have the car.
But I think it'd be cool with something like, oh dunno, a 20b under the hood

Well, I know you can buy archive issues of R&T from them, and some librarys even still have archives (I went through this to get the one with the GSL-SE tests, and finally found it at a library believe it it not), so someone could go get the R&T isuue and read about it and let us know .

did a little research and the plot thickens. I went to the website http://usedmagazines.com/cgi-bin/car.cgi which sells back issues of car magazines and they have pictures of all of the covers. Below is the cover of the November 1973 Road and Track (not december as the person selling the car stated):
Looks to be some sort of one off custom made car. But at least we know it was a cover car and they weren't lying. Will have to get my hands on the article to see what it's all about I guess.
Also, I had initially made a mistake and was looking through the car and driver magazines of 1973 and found these three interesting covers:
Pretty cool to go through and look at all the old mag covers.

Talked to the owner: it was a one-off custom job done on an RX-2 by a SoCal custom guy. Changed hands twice and was overpainted black (???!). He's sending me pix. Owner complained he's too close to 70 to undertake project, but I'm 67 and raring to go. Maybe it's the heart bypass.
It's been sitting under a tree in Whittier for several years, with the hood open (???!!!). It has a rotary engine with only a few miles, but a long sojourn since it was rebuilt.
If I can clear some of my other projects I may adopt it. Wife wants me to move a car out of her yard, but I have a 2 car garage empty as well as a carport at my houses.
