1950 pounds.... Finally weighed project autocrosser/road race car!
Well I raced at a NASA event this weekend and was able to weigh my car.
1950 pounds and that was with two seats and an Autopower roll bar.
I still have weight to pull out of the car. More stripping of stuff. (not much more), and I want a carbon fiber hood.
My goal is to get into the 1800's. I would already be there if it did not have a roll bar, but hey...I need safety stuff.
Unfortunately now i have to add weight back in strategic places to get up to weight for the class I want to run. This is OK, because now I can put the weight where I want it!!

Wow, I think mine was 2280 with me in it, which would put it around 2110. So you removed a couple hundred pounds more than me, not counting the cage. Where the hell did you find that much weight to pull out? You fill the frame rails with helium, or what?

I am happy. I think I can get her down to 1875-1900. Then I can add the weight where I need it.
With me in the car, the right rear weight is too light. I am guessing I can add weight to that area to better balance the car.

You can run anything you want for HPDE!!!
We will be racing at Buttonwillow in about 6 weeks!
BTW, if I go TTF I will keep the stock carb. If I go TTE, I will run some kind of Weber!

with a ported rotary you skip the whole class sheet, and they class you based on hp, weight and some magic. i forget but i think TTC/PTC is around 10.5lbs/hp so you'd be about there.
ideally you want to run a larger class, as the prize is/are hoosiers.

its nice actually, TT (time trials) and PT (performance touring) have the same rule set, so uncle jerry lets you run both.

I really want to run TTE, but there is some stiff competition there. And the class is supposed to have "stock" (at least non ported) engines, as a ported engine would put you WAY out of TTE. SO why does the fast guys have engines that go brap brap brap....when mine goes hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...smooth as a Lexus!!?? I don't get it!!??
I don't mind stiff competition, but I really want to be on a level playing field!
TTF might be a better place to start because my engine is bone stock. I will have to add some weight and run smaller tires than I want to, but I feel I can be competitive in TTF.

Unfortunately I don't have all the safety equipment to run PT.

What region do you race in?
Also, maybe I don't understand the rules fully, because I knew you could add aftermarket carb, headers, etc... but i did not think you could port the engine without dyno testing the engine and reclassifying accordingly.
Also here locally, yes, TTE is running as fast as TTD and TTC!!

I kinda agree. It might be good to start in TTF.

Bring it out!! Right now I am racing HPDE 3. I am building the car to either run TTE or TTF.
You can run anything you want for HPDE!!!

I might drive the REPU out to Buttonwillow to spectate, say HI. The weather would be perfect. And check out the competition. You know Tom @ 7sOnly can make a sweet cage right?
As for the brapping stock rotaries, adding more timing and running rich will do that but I have a feeling there is some porting going on. Years ago I talked to some ITA owners and they all had streetported their front and rear plates, and rotor housings. Since it idles on the intermediate plate theres much less brap. And of couse some just all out cheated and ported all 6. I guess there was not lollipop testing.
Anyway keep up the good work and I may be out there some time. Brad

Ah, yes I did HPDE3 for years in the car. Lots of good memories. I know a few years back I looked at the PT rulebook and they bumped bridge or periph rotaries out of PT entirely and into some ST class. Has that changed?

Buttonwillow April 21-22!!! Be there!!
You know, I am not accusing anyone of cheating. I just wonder about the brap brap when mine is hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... I know I will play fair and that is all that counts! I have decided to run TTF since my engine is 100% stock.
