15x8 offset's

Hey guys I know this question has been asked a million times. I can't find the info I need though and some people say 15x8 will fit and others say they won't.

In the old GSL-SE wheel thread kevinbtz said he can 15x8 with +15 offset and 205/50/15 tires. That is exactly what I would like to run but I need to know if the tire has the possibility of flexing and rubbing on the strut and if the wheel itself has enough clearance.

This is all in preparation for running autocross more seriously. I am going to be running Potenza RE-71R tires.

If 15x8 is to much I can still fit the tires on 15x7's.

Just looking for other opinions before I order wheels and tires and sort it out that way with test fitment.

Thanks

I have 15x7 Konigs with 205/50 Dunlops and the front fenders rub the tires on spirited
cornering (Deals Gap), this is with 1 degee of camber as well. I'm running cut RB springs and the
RB adjustable LCA. So I had to slightly bend (roll) the lip a bit to fix the issue on site. I'll probably
do a proper job here when I get time.

This is an awesome website called willtheyfit.com

according to them if I run 16x7 with a 28mm offset I will gain 2.7mm clearance from the strut and only poke out 15.4mm more than the current wheels i have do. I think this is what I am going to go for unless someone can prove to me that 15x8's will work without fender flairs. I don't mind rolling the fenders.

I think if you run crazy camber you could, I run about 3 to 4 degrees negative and aggressively pulled the fenders. The fenders are thin so they are easy to pull out.

Couldn't tell u if they fit or not but for intended purposes, why run 16" wheels when equivalent 15" will most likely weigh less?

Im running 15x7.5 +23 - its a perfect fit with 205/50 starting to get tight with 225/45. Have always kinda been thinking going to 8" ever since getting on to the 225/45, from my calculations and measurements (many times over) an 8 will work with a +16 so its good to hear that someone else came to the same conclusion.

The other thing though, is that i had to run a 15mm spacer to clear the coilovers up front - and then as much camber as uncut strut towers could accommodate to keep the top of the tyres where they were (2.5 - 3). Which also means theoretically could run a zero offset up front with a good fistfull of neg camber.

mainly to fill in the fender so I don't have to lower the car. Plus my speedo is off on the slow side so that would help that as well. lol

so you didn't have to run spacers with 205s but you did with 225s?

No the spacers were to clear the coilovers. The wheels would foul on the bottom of the spring perch. Tyres did not make a big difference Did not have this problem with stock spring perch and the same wheels.

i think you're looking at it incorrect in terms of speedo error. if your speedo is on the slow side, you want a smaller diameter tire than what is on the car today. by doing so, you'll actually be creating a larger fender gap.
