13B Transplant Hoses - Revisited

I posted a question a while back about what hoses to use for the S5 13B I'm putting into my '85 GS. I thought I'd post an update to show what hoses I used.

There are two fittings on the center iron...one directly out of the iron and the other on the oil filler tube. For the one coming directly out of the iron, I ran a hose to the tube that runs to the charcoal cannister. For the one on the oil filler tube I attached a breather that I got at AutoZone.

There is a fitting in the rear iron and one on the water pump housing that were for lines to the throttle body on the original 13B fuel injection system. I capped these with a short hose and a bolt.

For the heater hoses coming out of the firewall, the one on the passenger's side that goes to a tube that runs to the lower radiator hose is the stock '85 12A hose. The tube has another fitting just below this hose...I capped it with a short piece of hose and a bolt. The hose that connects to the other firewall fitting is from a '79 and runs from the firewall fitting to the rear iron just below the oil filter.

The hose that connects to the side of the lower radiator hose fitting is the stock '85 12A hose.

The upper radiator hose is the stock 12A hose.

For the lower radiator hose, I ordered the stock 12A hose, but it didn't fit right...there is not enough offset in it.

So I had my local AutoZone order the hose from an '85 GSL-SE in hopes that it would fit...it's perfect. On the left is the 12A hose, and on the right is the GSL-SE hose.

Here it is on the car.

Excellent info.

I don't know if I would suggest capping coolant lines with a bolt and a clamp though. I would try to route them to just form a circle. If you are bent on using the bolt, then at least put silicone on the hose and use a fuel injection hose clamp. You don't want that thing blowing off.

I've used a bolt in a cut off hose on the exact same spot. It works great. If you get a bolt that fits tightly it'll never come out with a clamp. I've never had a problem with it.

that breather filter is gonna get dirty so quickly. i just left mine open for now. hehe

also capping coolant lines hasnt caused a prob for me in almost a years use. just clamp er down good and its good to go (aslong as it isnt a high pressure area).

I would put a breather on the lower nipple. The first time I filled my rebuild with oil, I had both nipples open, oil ran out of the upper one. I have since capped it and left the lower one open. There is a good chance that your breather will fill with oil on the inside, if you pour the oil in quickly.

Outstanding work btw.

would it cause a problem to leave both of the holes open where you out the oil breather and the line that goes to the charcoal canister? Or what if I connected these two holes together with a hose? Let me know what you think thanks.
