HP/Wattage Figures at 1800 rpm 12A

Looking to run a 12A on propane or gas at 1800 or 3600 rpm. with no exhaust except diesel truck muffler. Wanting to take a 12a for a genset at 20,000 watts. Does anybody have any stock numbers for HP at thos two rpm ranges? Appreciate it!

I'd be guessing, but I'd say that for 20Kw on propane, you'd need at least 2500+rpm.

Interesting. I wonder, does anyone out there have a dyno chart for a 12A on propane?

At only 20kW, you only need 30 HP to produce it. Assuming no friction etc. Defenitely doable on LPG/CNG/H2.

Single RPM, so no throttle restriction... No exhaust restriction... (Stock on Gasoline was 100 HP with three cats... Not the nice friendly honeycomb types either, but three metal cans full of steel wool and rocks.)

The RX-8 makes 238 HP on 93 Octane and 120 HP on Hydrogen... So we'll assume that hydrogen makes about half the power than gasoline. So with the stock 12A, you'd be making about 50 HP... Plus gains from the subtraction of the restrictive induction and exhaust systems... Plus CNG/LPG have higher energy densities than H2, with the tradeoff of pollution... I'd give it 70.

Remember. I was also doing a little (emphasis on "little") research on converting the truck to alternative fuel, whether it be Propane (LPG), Natural Gas (CNG) or Hydrogen (H2)...

We can source injectors from a commercial vehicle scrapper. Chevy and Ford both make small trucks and vans that run on gaseous fuels. (EDIT: FORKLIFT! I forgot about those. That'd be PERFECT! )

To make it portable though, I'd rock out with a 1 rotor 13B... Anyone care to take a sawzall to an e-shaft?

No no no, the problem he is discussing is running it at 1800 or 3600 RPM.

Not at peak, where it gets 100HP on gasoline :p
