13B fuel line

Ok,replacing fuel pump/filter and all rubber lines at back of car. I'm good on all rubber hose except the 12 mm 90 degree hose from metal fuel line at frame rail to pump inlet. Mazda #45123 discontinued, what do you do? Going to NAPA in morning to see if they have any 12 mm fuel line, hopefully hi pressure fuel line that won't kink in the radius i need it to bend. Thoughts, ideas, solutions? SE owners?

You do not need high pressure fuel line at that location. If you can't find 12mm fuel line at your local autoparts store, it can be found online for very cheap.

Thanks for the response, the original section of hose being replaced is not hi--pressure hose,it is a molded hose with a sharp 90 degree bend & is n/a. So far have not found anything fuel hose related to replace it with. FI hose is less likely to kink than a lesser ply hose but it must make a sharp bend to fit in the tight space it has to fit.

High pressure hose should be used on all components, including the return lines, as they see something less than injector head pressure, but considerably more than 4-6psi common for carbureated systems which don't need high pressure hose. The low pressure hoses will expand too much and crack circumferentially around the outter casing and end up spraying fuel - this is obviously a concern for car fires depending on what the spray will hit. Given that the spray is a fine mist, that should be a serious concern.

My recommendation would be to take the section of high pressure hose you need to replace and visit your local Auto parts stores, handing them the hose to look around the tubing they stock in back. Even if you have to buy a longer section, the tricki S finding the radius of bend you need. With all the cars out there running EFI, I'm sure theres one that can be cut to fit. I've had better luck at NAPA or O'Reilly than autozone, but Pep Boys might be able to help out, too.

Using FI hose everywhere, including 12 mm pump supply hose from tank, which by the way appears to be single ply. No pressure in this part of fuel system, also one of few cars of this era using spring clamps as oe on fuel lines pressure and return. Will be using FI clamps thruout on reassembly. Was at NAPA this morning with the hose and pump to show them. D-bag parts jockey said they didn't have anything metric there.....so i left. Will go back tomorrow after work and talk to the guy i normally deal with there. Hit autozone on way home,d-bag parts guy there showed me 3/8 fuel line, said just jam it on there"that's what i would do". Thanked him for his advice and left. Pep Boys as last resort, been searching online a good bit today with no luck so far...

Well....visited every parts store in my area, called many. 1/2" is all most had and tried to push on me. One place tried to sell me molded heater hose, guy said would work fine. Actually had new pump with me so tried the1/2 line couple places, not snug enough in my opinion, wold have been ok for emergency repair by double clamping but not permanent solution. Came home and ordered hi pressure FI hose online from a German parts supply place, not certain when will be in. Also ordered a 1/2"x1/2" brass barbed 90 degree union from Grainger to hedge my bet in event the hose cannot be bent as needed without kinking. Will post results with pics so others may benefit from my experience.

Do you have an SE? When i first eyeballed all the rubber FI line to put together a list for gathering supplies to replace it all i thought at first the supply lines to the pump were 10mm,which is close to3/8" so that's what i got. After working underneath the car doing other things and looking at the pump and associated metal lines to and from filter which i'm also replacing as they look a little crusty, found that metal supply line to pump to be 12mm(measured with a vernier to be sure). So now i have a garage queen up in the air til i get the new size fuel line and clamps. Already have all brackets and pieces glassbeaded and painted so just waiting...
