12v fan

Had to say something besides electric. Anyways when I used to use electric fans on my V8 they seem to run the engine hotter than with the original clutch fan. How do
they work on the rotaries. Those hot days where your stuck in traffic. Do they really do there job good.??

My Black Magic is fantastic - temp guage stays at 1/4 all the time no matter what the weather or driving condition. The finicky thing is setting the thermo switch so it clicks on at the right time - when the weather gets hot, I just run it all the time to avoid running too hot before it clicks on.

A local shop here for around $400 Canadian. That's here though.. you should be able to get one for significantly cheaper from Summit Racing.

There are instructions that come with the kit, all you do is follow them, it's easy.

It's not the wiring that's time consuming, it's removing the rad to mount the fan, and figuring out how you want to do the brackets. The brackets that come with the fan are awesome, but you'll have to cut them with a hacksaw if you want to use them (as I did). They won't fit as they are. Also, you'll have to trim part of the rubber sealing strip on the fan shroud if you have a early car with the air-oil cooler under the rad. The fan sits over both the rad and the oil cooler.

If you end up going this route and have more questions when you install, feel free to ask.

Less chance of belt slippage if you don't have the dual-belt alt. pulley, and it gives you back the precious 1-2 HP that the clutch fan robs . I'd say it's more of a "My clutch fan is dead, I don't want another one 'cause it makes my car sound like a tornado when I'm taking off, so I'll put on an electric fan, and clean my engine bay up in the process.." type thing... Just my opinion though. I've got 2 12" fans pushing air through from the front... it's not the best, but my car never gets over about 1/2 way on the temp guage...

Exactly - a new clutch fan is almost as expensive, so you might as well upgrade while you're droppin cash. You do actually feel the performance difference in 1st and 2nd gear, but it's nothing major. And yeah, my water pump doesn't slip.

Hey, whadaya know, 2000 posts

Lately my fan has started that tornado whine. People (well, non-car people) mistake it for a turbo and figure my car is pimped out *L*

I think you can fool around with the thermostat on the fan clutch to make is stop doing the tornado whine.
