12A transmission options

My syncros are nearly gone from 3rd down into 2nd.

I have access to a few 13b S4 and maybe S5 N/A transmissions. Will they bolt on? Are the mounts the same, and shift location?

Needs to fit onto my 12a.

the S4 is easiest, it just needs the FB tailshaft housing swapped over.

A lot of the tail shafts between the Mazdas can be switched around. I have a '79 RX7 tranny in my MG with an '80 B2000 (yes pickup truck) tail shaft. Moved the shift way forward.

ok, that was a whole lot of useless information for this board.....

Not useless!!

I've been wanting to make a rotary truck, and a B2000 is now a prime canidate.... Although, it would be easyer to locate a Ford ranger or B2200. Do you know if the tranmissions are the same on those?

Will the length be the same? I just had a new driveshaft made. :S
My race car doesn't use a speedo. So I'm assuming it's not necessary.
-Is the overall length of the trans the same, and
-what is the purpose of the tailshaft swap?
My 12a is in a Corolla, so the shifter position doesn't matter for my specific usage.
-Do they use different driveshaft splines?

You'd have to change the mainshaft to change length for the driveline.

If it's just a tail housing swap, then the lengths are the same.
