12a Rbuild: Rebuild: Its running again!!!!
Success!
I actually had everything set to go last Thursday, but it was 11:00pm and if there was an issue I would been up all night. Friday was rain and cold so I postponed till today Sat.
It took about 10 more seconds of cranking till it started.
An initial cloud of blue-white smoke, but by the time I got out of the car to take a pic it was near nothing. By the time the choke let go, no smoke at all.
Timing was off by about 2 degrees. Easy adjustment.
Kept checking for leaks. Nothing. No oil, no coolant leaking from anywhere.
Went for a 20 minute ride. I read the posts on a break-in period but I could not keep it under 4k, but did not over 6k.
I thought about only taking the front cover and front iron off, but I knew the rebuild procedure and I wanted to confirm that I only made the one O-ring mistake. So I did a compete rebuild. 4 evenings to take everything off and pull the engine. Another week of evenings (basically 9-11) to disassemble the engine, wipe down and bag the parts. Another week to reassemble , and 5 days to install and hook up everything external. Having everything already cleaned, new parts installed, mistakes corrected, FSM pages printed, tons of home-made reference images, printed threads form here, and fresh memory really helped speed up the process.
I did replace the gas lines as they were cracked.
The rubber hose connections for the OMP hose lines would just slide off the OMP and carb. The OEM wire clamps had compressed the rubber hoses so there was no real clamping action. This may partially explain the oil coating on the front cover and on the left side of the carb. I replace the wire clamps with 1/4" gas-line style clamps which have a greater clamping area. I had previously rebuilt the OMP. Holding tight so far.
Anyway, even the short drive was fun.
(And I keep going back to the garage to check for leaks.)
Thanks again for everyone's help. I would not have even attempted the rebuild without the encouragement found here.

I'd say a once through to learn the ropes for a casual mechanic who'd never built a rotary before, followed by success on the second try, is a damn good track record.
Not to mention the $$$$$ saved by doing it yourself, enough to buy several seal kits and have plenty to spare.
You done good Tim.

Ray,
It was your encouragement as well as others that gave me the confidence to even try a rebuild.
My procedure for the assembling the stack is a hybrid from the Atkins and Mazadatrix videos, Aaron Cakes You-Tube, the Haynes book, FSM, and threads here. I'm going to try and compile the pics with some text. Maybe of some use to others realizing everyone has their own method.
And a large chapter on what not to do.

Take lots of pictures as you take everything apart. Helps fill in the gaps not in the videos and documentation. Search this site. Many questions have already been answered.
During my rebuild I started every post with "12a Rebuild" so I could use the advanced search and find all the posts & answers by searching titles.
Good luck.

Download the Factory Service Manuals (FSM). Link is in the second post of this forum.
