12A queston

ok i'm interested in an 85 RX and it needs work for sure cause it's only $300 but ok the queston is how much HP can you pull out of thease engines? can you street port them as well? i'v read about the 13B and 13BT engine swap and it seems allright and all but i don't wanna deal with the whole wireing issues that i'v seen said on them so yeah how much can you get out of thease engines and also where can i fine body kits for an 85 cause i saw one front lip and side that i really like

stock port about 150 hp at the flywheel with headers/exhaust and a good intake manifold and carb.

Street port an extra 20-30

That's an awfully broad statement

You can get anywhere from 100-300+hp from a non turbo 12A. Engine longevity and engine temperament get less pleasant as you go up the power scale. Well, less pleasant unless you *like* Evil Engines.

Stock intake components will choke a street port a bit. Unless you have the stock nikki carb modified. You know that a street port means an engine rebuild right?

My street port with stock intake/carb did 130hp through an open header, 120hp through the muffler. That is real HP not wheel HP.

However it made great torque thanks to the intelligent porting, and at 5500 *watch out*. Torque spike there. Basically it seemed to make the same HP from 5500-7800, the HP curve would have kept raising beyond 5500 *if* I didn't have the stock tiny carb on it.

- Pete (But it would accelerate from 30 ro 50mph in about 6 seconds.... in 5th gear)

that's an easy one. a really great site is racingbeat.com. you can also try mazdatrix.com. these two should keep you busy for a while. you should also read as much as you can on these threads because a lot of ppl post other websites that are good. keep your eyes open.
