12a-13b tranny differences

I have heard that SE trannies have better gear ratios especially between 2nd and 3rd and that they are beefier. I've always owned 12a's, I found a SE when I was looking for my last car but I was in a cast so I had to have a friend drive it. Anyway, I found an SE gear box and was wondering if I should pick it up and store it away if they are that much better??

-SE's have the same gear ratios as 12A, except for 5th.

Trans strength is the same; they are the same tranny and use the same parts. Only difference is the -SE's have vents in the bellhousing that the 12As do not, which makes it difficult to install if you have the '83-85 oil cooler.

Thanks peejay, sounds like it's not worth the effort.
