12A to 12AT (Cheapest Setup)?
Just wondering what is the cheapest setup, converting a 12A to Turbo or getting a 12AT engine? How any miles dose the engine have to have in order not to be able to put a turbo setup?

well, all i gotta say is try finding a jspec 12aT. they are very hard to come by now and they're not as cheap as they were. hell, you can get a damn TII block for the same price now. just turbocharge your stock 12a. trust me, it's awesome.

Thanks toxic_d, I will see if I can bid on it and hopefully I can get it. Would be nice to turbo charge my 12A. Even if it dosen't last to long but is a good start
*Question* If I buy this what other parts will I be needing and also I heard about my rotor having high compression with a turbo. Would it help if I ran it at a low boots?

you can run boost on a high compression motor as long as you have enough fuel to compensate. You can make more power with less boost on a higher compression motor, so thats another bonus. You just have to tune properly. I would reccomend a wideband, a egt gauge, a fuel pump, a AFPR, and larger carb, or whatever induction your running, injectors, etc. It takes a lot of time and planning to do it correctly, in my opinion, to do it right, isn't real cheap, but at least its reliable...

The best way to go is 12AT Jpec. They are now rare and costly, often more than a 13BT. They bolt straight in, but first need at least respringing. You will also need an ecu, a fuel system and exhaust system up grade plus a FMIC.
The cheapest way is adding a turbo with carb hat and modified Nikki. if the engine is over 75.000 miles for safety you need a rebuild.
Which ever way you go also start thinking light flywheel and stronger clutch.
If your budget is limited, you can still really increase performance by adding a bolt-on turbo.

draw through turbo
Has anyone tried a draw through turbo setup on a 12A?
It seems like it would be much simpler to set up since the carb would think it is just on a larger engine. No special pressure regulators . No pressureized carb, etc.
It seems to me the next least complex would be EFI with a megasquirt.

yes, there are a few people still running drawthru's and most will say "yep, going blow thru soon". all it has going for it is the ease of setup. thats it. you cant run an intercooler, you are limited on boost, and it ruins the turbo. other than that, rock out with it.

i'm hittin atleast 200rwhp right now... with a streetport and around 16psi i'd atleast say 250rwhp... would be more, but you will need a bigger turbo. the stock turbos are way too small and become a choke point for flow.

actually the s5 turbos are better for mid range and spool up. the s4 turbos can give better top end/ overall power. especially when it comes to the hyrbid versions but as i said... 250 ATLEAST; it alllllllllll ALLLLL depends on the tuning.
