120mph 83 cluster into 82 GSL w/ 85mph cluster stock SUCCESS!

i thought that venturing into the world of cluster swaps would be quite difficult and that the new cluster would have to be calibrated to work properly, but i took out my old 85mph top speed cluster from my 1982 GSL and connected up the new 120 mph cluster and plugged everything in and took her for a spin on the freeway she got up to about 95 and thats all i needed to know to see if it was working, cuz my "top speed" was always 85mph whether i was going faster than that or not! haha. if anyone plans on doing this modification i highly recommend it, because it is quite easy and takes like 15-30 minutes tops!

Did you keep your ODO or use the one in the 83 cluster?

Shame! I prefer the 85 mph speedo. They're inherently more accurate, easier to read, and, really, how often do you go over 85? When you do, and you want to know how fast you're going... look at the tach!

Or just look at the ticket (from the police man or from the drags)

Back in 1989 when I owned a 1982 Rx-7 with the 85 mile speedo, I replaced the cluster with a 120 MPH cluster and it worked fine. Picket it up for $25.00 from the junkyard...

brings back such memories of my first sportscar when I was 19...

Odd, my 82 GSL had the 120MPH speedo. Now I begin to wonder....does my car really have 161k miles on it?

Well, this would explain why my speedo has the numbers in yellow and not in orange...
