oh boy, well first off welcome buddy!!!!!! you are now the proud owner of a machine that will bind with your soul. anywho, that is a big process and you should hit up the search button at the top right corner of the screen. a few have fuel injected the 12a but most just stick with the carbs.

As with any project, advanced planning is key. Also, make sure your engine is in a good state of tune, or if there are problems, make sure they rest solely in the carb that's soon going away..

if i were to fuel inject a 12A.... this is the route i would take, which is the same exact route i will be taking with my 13B in the hopefully not too distant future...

i'd buy this throttlebody...

http://www.auto-nomics.com/cgi-bin/s...rt=10850-002-D

i'd get some TII injectors

i'd get this intake manifold

http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16464

and i'd use a megasquirt ecu...

Oh, man, that TB is CHEAP.. Looks like a good one, too. I always looked at weber TBs because that's what I already had. The manifolds I mean.
I am actually going with megasquirt and will (should) complete it in a few weeks..

BTW, do you know how much 4 injectors and a rail would be for that TB? Might end up being a cheap setup.. I'm not sure if the reman. rail and stuff on their website is for that TB or not..

What about the fuel system? I have no experience with Megasquirt but with Microtech and Haltech ecus you need a significant upgrade. The problem is high fuel pressure requirements which may need a new fuel pump, new fuel lines, and a surge tank.

I suggest getting a copy of The Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook by Mike Ancas which has a section on this modification.

Changing from carb to efi will give a maximum of 10% more power, its rather an expensive modification unless you have already added some performance parts such as a good header, and exhaust/muffler system.

For mine I've bought a Ford Econoline/F150 external fuel pump, Tweakit surge tank, and a MSD-2222 adjustable FPR. Stocker feeds the tank and the high pressure feeds from it. Using two GM style 42.29psi injectors. Should be just enough for a stock 12a.
I don't agree about the 10% option. If you compare two perfect systems, then maybe, but you don't add in the intrinsic benefits of EFI such as full tunability, smoother throttle, etc. Not to mention most people's carbs are getting pretty bad, including mine. To me it should turn out to more than 10%. Not to mention the mpg benefits. I can't wait to be finished with this project and finally get rid of the nikki, not that it's awful, but I'm done with carbs.

i'm running a holley carb, hence why i naturally looked for a holley based setup... i found that TB by browsing here in the 1st gen section one day, and bookmarked it, cause i'm gonna get that thing one day haha...

I emailed the guy about it. Seems like a good businessman. The TB itself is cheap, but if you want TPS and IAC, it's extra for both the machining and the sensor and solenoid. Also, the rail setup is about $115. Maybe ~$500 for an entire setup minus injectors. Not bad because it'll retain its value as everybody has holleys and you should be able to use the stock FC injectors or even from a GSL-SE.. I'll probably go with that instead of the weber TB I was going to use. thx, man.
BTW, if you need help with getting a megasquirt ECU together, spooky, send me a PM.
