Radio adapter and rear speakers?
Ok I finally got my cd player working, found out after I went and bought a 12v tester that my red wire (hot wire) was not giving any power so I found an open switchfuse under the dash (no power when off/power when acc) and ran a wire from there to the red wire. Thanks for all the help I got and everything from the posts!
Now my current problem is when I tried to run a wire from the rear speakers behind the cubby on the driver side to the harness behind the cd player and connect them all I get is staticy stuff going to the rear speakers so as of now they are not connected. Anyone know of anyway to get these working and why I am just getting static?
Lastly I could not fit the antenna adapter into my cd player because it was not long enough to fit in even with me squeezing my hand behing there after the HU was in and trying to fit it in just wasn't long enough. Now in my beretta I used to have it had an adapter to fit onto that so it made it longer so it would reach to fit. Do they make anything like this? Or am I just not gonna have any radio? I admit it does suck but I don't mind listening to it once in a while when I am sick of cd's or have none to listen to.
Thanks again everyone and goodday

make sure you are not running the wires near any motors i.e. the heater fan of the fuel pump.also make sure your hooking the speakers up right. also adjust the fader control on the deck you may not be sending a signal to the rear speakers.and next time buy your stereo from a dealer that offers free install and save your self the headache.

I owned this cd player for a year or so there was no free install or anything like that. I did set my fader to the rear right speaker only which I had setup and jsut got static so I didnt even want to bother with it anymore tonight because it's dark out and I can't see. Any other ideas why I am getting static and also is there anyway to wire it from behind where the stereo goes? I mean come on how the heck does the stock stereo give its sound to the rear speakers and with a aftermarket cd player you have a run a wire from the rear speakers? That doesn't make any sence to me.

what did i say, it was the red wire, or the ACC wire.
and for the static is it possible you managed to gouge your wire pulling it through and it's grounding itself out on the frame somewhere? Also if you managed to at ALL touch your pos and neg wires together for the same channel it's blown like that. Do you have sound in the front? If so you can test if your rear channels are blown by swapping your fronts to the rears. That will eliminate that being a problem. Even if you were close to other electronic devices there's no reason it would give you no sound, but maybe a high amout of static.
For the antenna go to bestbuy or anywhere who sells car audio and you can get an antenna extension. I know other people on the forum have managed to pull just enough antenna through to get it to connect. Just get the extension, it's easier.
Now that i re-read it, are you positive you tapped into the right wires on the harness in the cubby? A trick to see if you have the right pos and neg to the speaker is to take a 9volt battery and connect it to the wires of the speaker. Your speaker will either move IN or OUT, so you have to watch it. You want your speaker to move OUT not in, if it does the opposite then turn your battery around and make note of which is pos and neg on the battery in conjuntion with the wire.
try that out

Well I was not using speaker wire when I tried to do this the other night, bad idea I know but I think that is why I was getting all static **** going on. Tonight I picked up scosche 40ft 18ga speakerwire and scosche terminal kit so i am going to try this tomorrow and I hope I can get them working. Just for my clarification if I was not using speakerwire would that have made it all staticy or whatever I was hearing? If it doesn't make a difference what kind've wire you use then I won't even bother trying this speakerwire. Anyone?

When you were getting static, did you have the speaker wire ran from the CD player to the rear speakers (ran new wire the whole way)?
In the stock system, there were a few differerent setups. The 2 high end models used separte amps for both the front and rear speakers (located in each storage bin, 25W per channel). The lower end model ran power from the head unit directly to the front speakers and had a separate amp just for the rears. I imagine that this is what you have since you didn't indicate any problems with the front speakers. You will need to run new wire (use speaker wire) from the CD player directly to each one of the rear speakers.

addict thanks. I am going to try to run my speaker wire from the HU wires directly to the rear speakers. When I was doing this that night I was running wire from the HU harness to the rear speaker harness so I think that just made it shitty and I dont think i was using the right kindve wire either :S. I'll post back results.

Where did you connect the wire? The harness behind the CD player/ heater controls or somewhere else? By connecting it directly to the harness, it will be running into the factory amps. This may be the cause of the static that you are getting. By running it directly to the rear speakers with the speaker wire that you bought, the problem should be eliminated. Let us know how it goes.

Yeah I was running it into the wire harness behind the cdplayer and the one goign to the factory amp. Now I understand why I was having problems. I am going to go do the install now so hope it all goes well. I will report back results whenever I am done.
