anyone know where to get a compression check in socal LA area?

auto zone and keragen sell the compression testing tool. for around $40 buy one. and do the test your self its real easy.

and its a handy tool to have.

I'd take it to a Mazda dealership. Some dealerships are good, and some are bad.. so ask in your local forum, to find out the good dealerships in your area.

Rotary compression testers cost about ~$800. Or you can use an ordinary compression tester along with a video camera, to record the 3 peak readings and view them on playback. Remember to use WOT when doing a comp check.

They have one on Ebay, about $400, not bad.

Considering how much hassle and money is lost on bad engines, $400 is not that bad of an investment.

Now I need some divine intervention on the ignition switch, as my $40 compression tester has been sitting in the engine compartment for a week. I plan to have my lovely assistant turn the key whilst I watch the needle bounce.
