Your Cars And Which One Was The Best?

So how many cars have you owned and which one did you like best? Not necessarily the most expensive, but the one that gave you the best feeling?

Here is my list in ascending chronological order:

1. 1969 Chevrolet Malibu-Really big and heavy.
2. 1969 VW Squareback-It was always broken, but in high school was cool.
3. 1973 Toyota Celica GT-It never ran, but only cost me $30. Sold for $300!
4. 1965 Ford Galaxie 500-Pure NASCAR, hard and loud.
5. 1983 Nissan 280ZX-Drove it cross country. Twice.
6. 198? Fiat X1/9-Blew up on I-5. Pay attention to your redlines.
7. 1987 SAAB 900S-Most fun sub $1000 car ever.
8. 1991 SAAB 900S-Stylish. Ex-wife never figured out the 5spd. Perfect.
9. 199? Oldsmobile Cultlass Supreme Broughm Coupe-Handled surprisingly well.
10. 1983 Porsche 944-Superb handling.
11. 1983 Mazda RX-7 GSL-Always there for me. I will probably never sell this one.
12. 1987 Porsche 944S-Expensive, but the most balanced of them all.

I know that I am supposed to say the Mazda, and it really is a great car. The highest compliment I can give it is length of ownership, five years now and the only vehicle I currently own.

The 280ZX made me the happiest though. It never broke and carried me all over the country in speed and comfort. Dumb grad school girls thought it was some kind of exotic, that gave it some big points too.

haha my list is pretty short, but uh..
1991-subaru legacy
1985-Mazda Rx7

...well needless to say the legacy i beat around and taught myself how to drive a stick...so the most reliable and best car i've had so far is the rx7 lol.

1. 1970 Ford F250-great truck but it is a 3/4 ton 2x4
2. 1987 Ford Tuarus station wagon- got me to school but not cool
3. 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL- can't beat a big cam and glasspacks out the side.
4. 1983 Mazda RX-7- great car and runs great when it is not broken
5. 1957 ****** Wagon 4x4- will always get me there just not above 50mph.
6. 2003 Ford Ranger 4x4- great truck just the wife needed a new car more than me

I would have to say the Galaxie by far. It's fast, loud, rides great, and cool. the stories I get from people about galaxies they've had everytime I park the thing.

2. 1995 F-150 300ci drove till 5.
3. 1982 Honda CM200T rode till 5.
4. 1986 F-150 4x4 300ci project, sold before 5.
5. 1995 Escort GT drove till 6.
6. 2006 Ford Fusion I-4 current DD
7. 1980 RX-7 current project, hopefully to replace 6. but very doubtful.

My favorite would have to be my Fusion, it's the only car that starts when I'm on a date. The rest are a bunch of Christine's I tell you.

1 1994 Mazda Protege - Bare bones, manual everything. Loved it to death, had some pep, and got 5 people from charlotte NC to huntsville AL on a tank of gas.
2 1990 Chevy Cavalier - Never again. Never.
3 1990 buick regal custom - awesome car, too many problems. Super comfy. ended blowing it up for kicks. It was an auto.
4 1994 Toyota Celica - The steering on the car was to die for. Too bad it was an auto. Totaled it in the mountains when the rear came out (wtf?)
5 1998 Honda Civic - VTEC YO. Kicked in, made noise, still slow. Fanboys everywhere tried to race me, so I sold it. Manual with the PO doing a leather interior.
6 1979 Mazda RX-7 - $252 dollar car, looked like it sat outside in Texas heat and sun for 10 years. Got excited when we got it towed home, sat inside, adjust rear view mirror, and promptly crumbled in my hand.
7 1978 Mazda RX-7 - #4xxx, driver mirror only, passenger hood prop. Great engine, no interior.
8 1982 Mazda RX-7 - Car I still own. Has the engine from the 78. Love it to death.
9 2002 Mazda Protege - My DD. Intake, Mazdaspeed muffler, black tails, lowered, back when I was a ricer. Then I got the 7. Love this car too. 1040w system
10 1982 Yamaha Seca 650 - Dinosaur bike. fun learner bike, and was a great cruiser. If i knew it had carb problems, i wouldnt have sold it.

My car was a 1965 Galaxie 500 two door coupe with AT and power nothing. It has that great throbbing 352 torque monster motor with alot of steering and brake feel.

I was communting in San Diego to this horrible job, so the car was my only release. Every day I would try to beat my top and cornering speeds.

So one day after work I was driving out of the parking lot of this industrial complex. I hit the brakes and the pedal dropped to the floor. The pedal had completely broken off near the hinge. I managed to turn it around and get it to a fence maker who just welded the pedal back up good as new.

Anyhow, if that ****** had broken off maybe fifteen minutes later I would have been toast.

The only car I have ever owned that I credit to saving my life.

I have a similar story with mine. I have a 500XL with a 390 thunderbird motor, C6 auto, P/S, P/B, Air. I was leaving my bosses house, it was a gravel driveway. As I got to the end of the driveway I hear a pop and the wheel turns real quick. I get out and look under the car and power steering cylinder snapped and the wheel just flopped around. If it happened while I was on the road I could have been in real trouble.

We need to start a Galaxie 500 safety page. You think they have a site dedicated to that car?

Maybe I am violating the regulations of this page, but is anyone into Galaxie 500 the band?

1. 1996 Dodge stratus 2.4l dohc
I had the whole turbo build to make it a awesome sleeper, i upgraded the suspension, swaybars for excelent handling, but then the stupid powersteering hardline leaked onto the header and fwhoooomp

2. 1980 Mazda Rx-7
Man i loved that car so much it only had 50,000 miles i kept it stock when i aquired it but my brother never maintained it and it had some minor body damage that then the rear end started to go out and the main ignitor went so my brother made the decision to sell it.

3. 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX wagon
Was the fastest car by a mile that i have driven. Where as the stratus i had to build up, this was already a great platform to start modifying from. Low 13's in the 1/4 mile made my day and one really fast sleeper that no one expected out of it, then some ******* decided it would be a good to idea to crash his car into mine and total it

4. 1993 Subaru Impreza L Version IV STI right hand swap
A even faster subaru that i picked up. It was rediculously fast compared to the previous subaru (low 12's) and handled 10x better, this was the best sleeper to date, best because the exterior was a bit on the ruff side but was fast enough to give supercars a run for their money with the 4.44 differential. Still have alot of mods that can be done

5. 1983 Mazda Rx-7 GSL - GSL-SE swap
Picked it up for supercheap and it already had the swap done so it got it. It's my daily driver.

mine is small list.

1. 1983 mazda rx7 gsl
picked it up for $200 put a custom bodykit then new starter and carb and she drives

2. 1992 chevy luminia z34
got it for free if the old owner did not cut every wire in the car under the hood it would of been worth the time to fix sold it to scrap for $80

3. 1987 chevy S10
not fast or can do burnouts for a 2.8 v6 and had monster rust holes picked it up for $200 did the bodywork then sold it to someone for $1000

i love the rx7 because well its custom but i miss the s10 i wish i still had it and the luminia but i needed money for the rx7

1. 1996 Plymouth Neon. Not necessarily a bad car as it had like 40k miles or something rediculously low but it was an auto. Brake pedal went to the floor at a red light and totaled it.

2. 1983 Mazda RX-7 S. First car I bought with my own money. I put alot of time into her and I really enjoyed her. She got me accross the country. I blew the front rotor in it and she still got me to work and back every day for 2 months. I still have her

3. 1975 Mazda Repu(Rotary Engine Pick Up). I loved the hell out of this truck BUT it didn't have the 13B in it anymore. The original owner blew the 13B and swapped in a Toyota 20R motor and matching 5-speed trans. The truck was an electrical nightmare. The alt stopped charging and I could never get it to charge again. Sold it to my boss before I moved.

4. 1989 Mazda RX-7 GXL. I enjoyed the FC world for the time I was there but it just never did have that certain feel that a 1st Gen does. It had power everything and it all worked(even the AAS). But one of the PO or someone took out the radio and cut all the harnesses and only the back two speakers worked cause I replaced them. Ultimately I put too much money into getting it to pass MD inspection and I got tired of it. Traded it for #5

5. 1979 Mazda RX-7 S. Ahh back in the 1st Gen game. It already had a header and straight pipe on it with a stock muffler that I swapped out for my RB unit from my FB and it came with a Kamei air dam, full exterior trim set, LSD rear end from an S3, FB lug bolt sets, and spare front bumper. I've had a lot of fun with this car and it's my current DD. It will probably get a few more mods before the FB goes back on the road.

Out of all of them I have to say my FB has been the most fun for me just because I invested alot of time into her and learned alot. I may get and sell other cars but I think she will stay with me for the long run.

k so my list

1. 2002 bmw 325i auto: fun car for when i was very stupid, became infested with ants, they were living in my car it sucked
2. 2008 vw R32: christmas present from my parents, bad idea on there part, terrible gas mileage, but fun as hell, but i originally wanted a GTI
3. 2008 civic SI: my parents after gas jumped up they told me i was stupid for the r32, so i traded it and got the SI, amazingly faster and better handling and way nicer on the wallet
4. 1985 toyota corolla gts(ae86): sucked nuff said
5. 1982 rx-7 gs: funnest car i've owned, needs a rebuild, and suspension work but is fun as hell and handles really well.

my favorite is the SI it's got alot of the fun of the 7 with none of the drawbacks, like snap oversteer, and bad gas mileage, but the 7 is amazing and once it has been built a bit it will be so much better

1. 1970 Ford LTD 2-door, white with black vinyl roof: handed down from Dad, was his road car. 390, C6, bench seats 6' across... perfect high-school kid car.

2. 1973 Plymouth Satellite 4-door, radioactive green w/dk green vinyl roof. Bought it after my girlfriend erased the LTD one night in an ice storm. Had a 318 & bench seats in it when I bought it. While I was in the service,a buddy of mine rolled his 70 Cuda. The bucket seats and 400 CI engine went into my Satellite, which worked out fine until I left the service and moved the registration to California. The Smog Guy just laughed at me. What a beast; I once drove it home from a cross-desert road race after shearing an intake valve clean off!

3. 1980 RX7. First sports car, first manny tranny, first one I bought because I REALLY wanted it. Paid $1700 for it in 1989. Love at first drive. 19 years later, still got it. It's a hobby car now & in far, far better shape then when I bought it.

4. 1991 Chevy Camaro RS, Metallic Blue. Beautiful, fast, heavy. Had over 100,000 on it when I bought it; had 220,000+ when it got donated to charity.

5. 2003 Nissan 350Z Touring, Brickyard. First brand-new car I ever owned (outside of the wife's car) magnificent car, but almost too perfected; it lacks the eccentricity that makes me love my RX7. Good thing I'm an electrical engineer with a physics degree underway, or I would not be able to fix it; the service manual runs 1400 pages.

1984 2 door cutlass supreme(lowered, headers, intake, dual glass packs out the side.very loud)
1986 rx7 learned std in it put exhuast on and blew it up 3 months later
1984 cutlass. motor started knocking and traded it for a vw GTI
1990 vw GTI: sold cuz i hate fwd and it was slow
1984 gsl-se streetport,raceing beat header and exhaust, koing rims,k&n

..best car was my first cutlass cuz i got it for 300 bucks and beat the crap out of it for a year and it never broke untill i changed the intake manifold and "forgot" to drain the coolant letting coolant into the oil ..spun a bearing a week later and sold it for 350 bucks

1980 RX7LS. First car. Invested 11 years worth of savings from doing summer yard jobs and shoveling snow during winters. First love. Paid $9,999 for it used from a dealer in Kansas City. It still provides me great joy and memories on weekends.

Not going thru the history, but the best car beyond the 1979 SA was the 1965 Corvair Corsa with the 180 hp turbo with the 145 CI turbine section mated with the 164 CI compressor & water injection.

1. 1993 Jeep YJ, sold
2. 1995 Mazda MX-3, sold
3. 1995 Nissan 240SX, sold
4. 1979 Mazda RX-7, still own
5. 1999 Hyundai Accent, sold

The jeep was really fun for offroading. The 240 had decent power and feel to it, even with the ka24. But the most fun to drive is my SA, it's the only one I still own, and will never sell.

1. 1998 Nissan Quest, sold - known around my circle of friends as the "pimpmobile"
2. 2004 Mazda 3, sold - my interest in cars exponentially grew with this car. I sold it because it was auto and slow.
3. 1993 Mazda RX-7, own - my favorite money pit, lots of mods.
4. 1996 Honda Civic CX Hatchback, own - daily driver. I purposely chose automatic so that I wouldn't modify the thing. Result: failure. Has some nice tokico shocks/springs, projector headlights, ls mesh rims.
5. 1990 Mazda Miata, own - bought it after one test drive, and just because I could. Added roll bar for additional safety. Currently called project MAN-iata in order to prove to my friends it's possible to make a Miata look manly.
6. 1985 Mazda RX-7, own - the reason why I'm on this thread. It's not my fastest, nor my favorite, nor my most reliable, but damn I love driving this thing. It's such a pure race car.

Pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/ldilem/my_cars#

I'm only 24 and I'm looking forward to owning and fixing up many more cars in the future.

I know I'm reviving a very old post, but I like hearing about other guys' history of cars so I thought I would share mine...

Here is my list in ascending chronological order:

1. 1983 Mazda RX7 Limited - Silver - Stock with new carpet & stereo system (circa '93)
2. 1984 Toyota Corolla GTS [AE86] - Silver - RWD but bone stock with stereo system & 15" Rims
3. 1978 VW Bug - Red (Flat Red thanks to the sun) - Hand me down while I saved for my first brand new car
4. 1995 Honda Civic EX - Horizon Grey - Super clean with modest mods (no rice)
5. 1995 Honda del Sol SI - Black - clean migrated Civic mods to this one (no rice)
6. 1999.5 Audi A4 1.8TQ - Silver - super clean with 18's - my luxury liner of my tenure
7. 1964 VW Bus - Major project that I never finished
8. 2003 Lexus IS300 - Black - 5-spd, Upgraded suspension, quick car
9. 1990 VW GTI Wolfsburg - White - many mods, slow & FWD
10. 1988 Mazda RX7 Turbo II - Black - stock, but flawless - Still own
11. 1998 VW GTI VR6 - Windsor (Navy) Blue - many mods, quick but FWD - Still own [DD]
12. 1985 RX7 GSL-SE - White - many mods - still needs work, but they always do - Still own

As you can see, I have come full-circle. My first car was an FB & my latest car I've acquired is again an FB.

I would have to say my funnest car is the T2, but I miss my Audi the most. If I had to do it all over again, I would have my T2 as my baby and the Audi as my DD.

The list of cars and trucks (many Toyotas, Mazdas and a few Ford trucks) would be too long. Best by far was the 1973 RX-3 coupe. New off the showroom floor (drove it out the front door) in 73. I was 20. The 240Zs challenged the car for 3 or so months until they all realized they couldn't win. Life was good

The 84 and 86 AE86 Corollas were a distant 2nd. Couldn't afford an RX-7 with a young business. When we bought several new Toyota trucks they gave us a deal on the Corollas the out of town Mazda dealer couldn't compete with.

ive had too many to list them all, but here are the highlights, in no particular order.

1958 Tr3. its a really amazing driving experience. it illustrates exactly how technology really has ruined the experience of driving. except for being a convertible it is plenty comfortable too. and despite being 53 years old and completely outdated, it still catches things in the hills. 30mpg too. people really love the car too.

1982 Rx7, peepers and my black 1985 GSL-SE. i'm lumping these together. the black -SE was like the villiage *****, it did track days, and all kinds of stuff, its whole life, thru a few different owners, and 200+k miles. peepers is sort of a continuation of that, its more track and more *****

1973 MGB. if i knew then what i know now this car had POTENTIAL! as is it was just a beat up but rust free MGB, i measured it, a 12A and rx7 5 speed almost bolts right in.

1971 Mercedes 300SEL 3.5. i probably should not have bought this, and i should have just gone right to the paint shop painted it, and resold it, but if you have a chance to drive a W108/W109, do it! the 3.5 is a V8, i think its rated @200hp? its an old car, so its big and made of steel and iron, but its probably lighter than a new C class. a real tire burner, comfortable too! handling is unbelievable. only real downside is the air suspension, and the mileage, it hovered around 11-13MPG

1988 Rx7 turbo, with 3 rotor. in 2001, i dropped a 20B in my T2. i used about 8 aftermarket parts on the whole thing, and it really changed the character of the car. the big engine is much more relaxed than the 2 rotor, it sounds better....

1991 Miata. i had a nice stock white one. its such a simple uncomplicated car. 30mpg too.

1979 Rx7. mine is an early one, one mirror, RH hood prop. its probably the nicest Rx7 ive ever had, the engine/paint/interior is what it left hiroshima with, and it even passes CA smog. performance on its own is not that great, but its so EASY its just fun. like the miata and the Tr3 you can really use this car without breaking the law.

1983 Rx7 Limited edition. this was another good driver, all the controls felt nice and very balanced. just a joy to drive.

1993 Rx7 competition yellow. if you want to feel like you're the fastest guy on the road, and everyone knows it, this is the car. the stock turbos deliver acceleration like no other car, its awesome when the first turbo keeps you right next to the mustang, and then the second turbo comes on and you're just gone.

1967 Mercedes 250S. 4 speed. THIS is the one i should have kept, it was a zero option car, i was owner #2. again, if i knew then what i know now....

1968 mustang. another car i shouldn't have bought, 4 speed v8, holley, headers etc etc, my stock S4 FC walked all over it in any way you'd car to measure it but it would be cool now!

1985 Mazda RX-7
1984 Mazda RX-7
1986 Porsche 944
1984 Mazda RX-7
1985 Mazda RX-7

I love RX-7's but that 944 was the best out of all of them. Will have another one someday.
