Nice work, today I'm tackling new bushings I bought for kutukutu1. I'm surprised at the quality from a 3D printed piece. These are very sturdy.

I'm really hoping a lot of the slop goes away.

They are awesome....I got both sets from kutukutu1...the ones for the wiper motor and the ones for the headlights and also got the door pull cups and the door lock surrounds....great quality...

I installed a set of his headlight bushings a couple years ago as well. They're really well made and still work like a charm.

Anyone that has used PIAA blades probably knows that their normal "frame" style blades do not work with pin style wiper arms. While they look like they should, there's no adapter included. Instead you have to buy their "beam" style blades to work with pin arms. These beam blades are what I had been using, but I've always thought they look too bulky and modern on older vehicles. Today I made my own adapter, allowing 3/16" pin wiper arms to be used with PIAA Super Silicone blades (the frame style):

I know I'm crazy for even caring about this. The simple solution would be to buy another frame that works with pins and install a PIAA silicone insert. Although, PIAA is locally based here in the PNW so I'm a bit biased (and their frames are well built). I've also downsized to the OE recommended 16" blade from my prior 17". My wipers have been horribly slow at idle with the headlights, heater, etc. on, so hopefully this aids a little with that by reducing the friction a hair.

Zombie apocalypse. It's very kludge, but those wipers aren't going anywhere

You risk the lost of your wipers on no limits german highway. The lost of quality and perfect fitting the cheap bronze pin vs the stainless steal pin in the eighties. Bosch never built the old style wipers anymore, you only get cheap chinese produkts in europe.

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted here. Brazil66 has been in hibernation for the past year and a half waiting for me to finish another non-rotary project. That thing is gone, she's retaken her rightful place in the garage again. She must have been really p*ssed about being left outside under a car cover for that long because:
  • the clutch went straight to the floor and didn't come back
  • she wouldn't turn over
  • once I got her started, she wasn't charging
  • the headlights stopped working (flip ups worked, but no lights)
  • the speedo kept rebooting and the gauges were doing all kinds of crazy things
  • the left front shock gave out
So I replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders. The issue with it not starting was a flat battery....easily addressed. The gauges doing wonky things issue was chased down to being a bad battery cutoff switch. I replaced that and changed out the battery cables for some heavier gauge cables and everything was working except for the lights and the oil pressure gauge (which read 100psi all the time). That gauge ended up being bad, so I sent it back to Speedhut and they rewired it so that it's a 3-wire setup (rather than the 1 wire setup). Now it reads properly. The lights not working ended up being a bad light switch, so I had to cough up the bones to get a new OEM replacement. Now I have lights.

I gave her a good wash, and then took apart and cleaned up the tail lamps.

Fun fact...you can still get the right OEM tail lamp cover from Mazdatrix, which I had to do because I broke the lamp trying to get it off. :/
I then pulled off the street wheels (14" factory wheels from my FC) and put on the fun wheels.

That's when I noticed my left shock was blown. :/
So I ordered some MR2 Koni Yellows to replace the old Tokico Illuminas. They arrived in about a week. I went to install them this weekend and this is what I found:

These clearly look like Koni Yellows, except...well...they're RED. So I called up Koni today. Their response was, "Well...it looks like someone forgot to change out the paint in the paint gun between jobs". So yeah. I have a collector's item...red Koni yellows. Not that it matters...you won't see them when they go in the tubes anyway.

MO I Started Looking For A Donor Rear End

My worse nightmare! I took it out of the garage for two days because I loaned my Maxima to my son because his was in the shop. That’s the thanks I get for being a good dad. The good news is that we are on the road to recovery. I have already secured all new tail light parts and I’m close to finding a new donor car to replace the rear end. It will take time and a lot of money from HIS insurance company. Just like Steve Austin from the Six Million Dollar Man, “Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology and Farmers Insurance checkbook! Better than he was before. Better, stronger,& faster.” I will post the rebuild pics sometime this summer. Life goes on! Be safe out there!

You can’t fix stupid!

Oh, that sucks! I'm so sorry. Bumper doesn't help a lot when everything newer than 1990 is so much taller than our cars. Frickin' CUV fetish...

Sorry that happened....That is my nightmare also... I've been working on my old girl for two years and I'm afraid that when I'm done and get her out some idiot will be on the phone texting and will run a red light or a stop sing as I'm going thru or they will hit me from behind while I'm stopped at a traffic light or stop sign...😱that terrifies me...

I will go to jail if after all the money, time sweat that happens to me...

Gents we are Tiny Little Cars in a World of Monsters.
I too got nailed in Dec in the rear. By a Semi no less.
Miraculously, we were stopped at the time and he jumped to the green light before I could. BOOM! but it resulted in just a light scratch on the rear bumper, which - Gawd Bless 'Em - Hagerty stepped up with out hesitation to fix, to the tune of nearly $900. For a scratch. Jeeez-zhuz!
My Sympathy and best of luck on this repair!!

Believe it or not™ - it was a hit-and-run. Yeah, you can chase a Semi. But you can't really pull one over in a 1 ton sports car ;P
Took pics of the Perp, filed a police report and let it go...

Let's just say he was in no hurry. Am guessing he prob didn't even know he had bumped me at the stop-light.

Those impact pistons behind the bumper did their duty tho!

"we are talking about an over thirty year old japanese sports car that he is always working on, and the damage can be fixed with a part from an auto parts store", the defendant's consul said.

"now tell, what expertise do you have in auto body repair?", the small claims judge asked.

"well how about, we borrow his car, and take it to our own auto body shop for an estimate?" the defendant's consul said.

"we already have an estimate by an expert submitted by the plaintiff who is under oath, ", the judge replied.

"it appears that you will not pay the court settlement, and that is contempt of court, we put people is jail for this", the judge said one year and three months later.

I searched the court dockets, and 2 months after the beginning of the garnishment of the *******'s paycheck that hit my car, he was in court for eviction.
