Today I'm finally setting aside time to work on my own car and install these three engine bay harnesses.

That means tearing down the front end, adding a bunch of small locking clips (drilling holes in bars), and tucking things to where they are manageable, yet safe.

One more step towards completion. Many harnesses left.

It looks really good. Where did you get your outer gaskets from (the one going around the taillight)?

Those are oem, came with the car. Gave them a quick spray of flat black

It looks like you have something engraved on the top of the radiator, how did you get that done?
Looks nice

Did you see the vid with slow idle?

I'm curious lil12abp, how can you possibly see out of your rear window?

With that set up you don't, all you see is the top box. I used to drive trucks so I got used to driving with only side mirrors.

But that top box has been taken out, the stereo is getting a refresh. I hope to have it done by Next week.

@lil12abp that is some serious hardware! I had a sub (8 or 10 inch?) In the driver's bin back in the 90s and thought it was the ultimate 😛

Is there some extra capacitance or is that an upgraded alternator?

Anyway, you've put a ton of work into that car, looks great. I'm too old for that big stereo though!

Alternator has been upgraded from 55amp to 165amp, in the future a 2nd battery would be a great help for the subs.

Re-make is going to be great and the top box has been removed already. will be adding some lights. Kids love flashing lights. I let them sit in the drivers seat so parents can take pics of them. Smile is ear to ear lol.

So back in 1990 I had a 1980 RX-7, it had 4- 12" woofers, 4- 10" mid-range, 2 large dj horns and 10 tweeters. Here is a pic of that car, sad I don't have finished pics, and I was the 1st to install turbo ll scoop on a SA. Wish I had the parts that car had, they would be great for my 83 now.

Stay young, enjoy life as you can.

Do you have any more photos of this beautiful 1980 rx7?

Thank you

Here's 1 more in a booklet, the 2 on top aren't my cars

.

My old car looked so much better.

Almost impossibile to find the rear center louver, if I do find it I'll install the whaletail and front scoop for sure

I'm going to install a neon sign in the car today and some police lights

Installed new spark plug wires.

Amazon Amazon

The NGK set. Absolutely noticeable difference at idle, super smooth now where I had an occasional stutter before. And most satisfying, I had a chronic issue with backfire while choked (even just barely) after quickly lifting pedal from acceleration. I tried my best to get a backfire after the wire change and it just wouldn't do it. I would say it's the best $26 I've spent on it lately, but I've made a lot of little changes recently that have made the car even more fun to drive.

And FWIW I am running all stock ignition right now. I had been running direct fire but had to chase some issues with generic DR100's and/or the coils, so I went back to baseline.

Indy Cars & Coffee

Took my 85 GSL-SE to Indy Cars and Coffee at a local municipal airport this morning, parked between a C7 Corvette and a C3 Corvette and still got a lot of love from the crowd.

I am not surprised, such a great example you've got.

During the first gen run they they were affordable to a majority of folks back in the day, and some common responses are "I had one once," I always wanted one," or "my friend had one." One I heard yesterday was a new one though Toruki and that was "I've never seen a first gen RX7 before." But what is really nice is hearing is "thanks for brining your car out today."

That's great. I get a lot of comments from young guys, seems like they're in their 20s, never saw one brand new. The loudest one yesterday was in a highway slowdown and a shout "Dorito power!"

Gen-Z seems to have exposure to our 1st Gens from driving games. Was cruising on the highway last Friday to meet my mom for lunch and looked over to see an SUV pacing me in the right lane with several cellphones held out the window shooting video. Little old me...!
