Haha, spoons aren't that bad. For the $15 I spent on them, I've more than made my money back. I'm getting ready right now to seat the bead.

Interesting as Mazdatrix shows them as no longer available. And Black Dragon show them as $34.95 in the printed catalog and the online catalog seems to think they have them. I have noticed that Black Dragon will have parts still in stock but the price tends to escalate when they get low as you would expect. I wonder if Jim Ellis Mazda can actually get them or if this is just an entry in a database.
I never even think to try the Mazda Dealership as they are a little lame.

Can anyone give me some pictures of their rear hatch defrost/wiper wiring?
I can't get mine to work and I have an extra spade connector that I don't know where it goes.

Haven't driven my RX-7 in 5 or 6 years. My wife bugged me about selling it because it did not run. A battery, tires and a carb rebuild at Rotary Performance in Garland, TX and now she is now longer asking me to sell. What a difference from driving my other vehicle which is an SUV.

Finally back from my business trip. I spent about 10 hours yesterday hacking away at the 80 ignition control box circuitry, and I think I have it pretty fully understood now. Will be writing it up in the near future as this stuff is documented NOwhere - - and the factory wiring diagram & FSM are incorrect/incomplete in several respects.

So here are some photos of the interim process of molding a new 2 pin rear MAZDA badge.
The first picture is the presumably good badge on the GSL-SE. Until I looked at it closely in the photo I didn't realize how crazed the surface is. Probably this is the wax cracking. This part is still on the car and has nothing to do with the mold making procedure.
The second photo is of the repaired badge from the EV conversion. The process to repair was to glue the broken off M back to the A. I used a slow cure structural epoxy (West systems) and filled in the back with epoxy to reinforce it. I then scuffed the face with 400 grit to give the epoxy some tooth and painted the front with clear thickened with graphite powder which makes it an opaque black. After that cured a few days I sanded it back to shape with 1500 grit as the final sandpaper grade. Then I polished it with an auto reglaze and sealer product which I had used on plastic in the past to give a mirror finish. I was happy with shiny here. The part is in the form to make the mold and is stuck down with double sided tape.
The last picture is of the filled form. This requires 16 to 24 hours before demolding the part so in theory I could pull it now but I would rather be patient and I will wait a few more hours just to be sure it is cured.
More pictures tomorrow. I am going to make a clear badge tonight if the mold comes out ok.

Last summer I noticed the M on the MAZDA badge on the right rear of the car had a crack where it connected to the A. I took it off the car and found that the two pin MAZDA badge is unobtanium as a new part. I glued it but was never happy with the appearance so it never got put back on the car. I spent about 4 hours fixing it up so I can pull a mold from it. I will post pics after a couple more evenings of effort.
I've been thinking of making one out of clear and inserting LED's through the mounting post holes and then connecting them to the running lights. The boring version would be black like the original and a more interesting variant would be a carbon fiber base with clear raised lettering.

I'm making plans with the current owner to get my Turbo FB back into my life...it's been a long 6 months since I let it go to him. Any of you thinking of selling your cars that you're attached to - DON'T! I regret it every day and mine went to a great home where it's probably cared for as well as it was in my hands. It still kills me to talk about the car to new and old friends because that was one of the first things we would discuss. Should be back in my possession by May at the latest as the plans go now.
Fiance is all for it and she's letting me put HotWheel RX-7's on our wedding cake.
Yeah, she's a keeper.

Mold came out perfect. Made a part out of clear resin which I pulled from the mold this morning. I need to clean up the flashing. Here are some photos. I will cast one out of black resin this evening. I will see if I can illuminate the clear one through the two mounting pin spots and see how that looks. I find it interesting the way the clear one reflects room light. I want to see what it looks like in the sun.

Nice work, Doug. Reminds me of my days spent in my studio with a vac chamber, silicone, and urethane.
The car is still up on jack stands waiting for my machinist to make my watts link bushings.
Last Thursday (or was it Wednesday?), I took the top off the Weber and found that the accelerator pump was sticking. I pulled it out, filed the retaining disk in the spot where the plunger rod was catching, and put it back together. Now it doesn't stick. Hooray! Shining an inspection lamp into the chokes, I double checked the progression holes to make sure that the venturis were closing properly. They were. Finally, I replaced the F6 idle jets with F9s.
Now I have to wait until my watts links bushings are done so I can drop the car and fire her up to see what effect all of this has had. Hopefully I'll get that idle down and the sticking throttle (which I am almost certain was caused by the sticky accel pump) is a thing of the past.

I'd love to make it! Timing will be extremely tight but if I can make it out I will. I promised another rotary friend on here I'd go if I could and will be seeing if he's going to come out or not.
I hear ya with that. Honestly I'm not really attached to anything I own like I am to that car. It was the first car I paid for completely with my own money and it has family ties to my fiance and her grandpa so it sucked letting it go. I can't let someone else get a hold of it and wrap it around a light pole or part it out. It's a good friend of mine and I can't wait to have it back.

Took a peak up and behind my IMSA airdam. The front valance is in excellent shape.
Considering removing the airdam cause I like the stock look too!
