Saturday morning Oct 5. We had a blizzard the night before. 23.1 inches of snowfall. There is a red 85 GSL-SE under that snowpile somewhere. About a third of it melted off Saturday afternoon and on Sunday. I was able to fourwheel out about 90 minutes before sunset on Sunday. Trees broken down everywhere around town. I lost power for just a couple of hours on Friday. Still don't have my cable back. Posting this through my 4G phone connection.

Did work on the GSL-EV some. It is apart and I am in the process of adding the EV equivalent of the alternator. This device is called a DC-DC converter and it converts the high voltage of the traction pack (180 volts in my case) to the 13.4 volts the car systems use. I am going to initially do 40 amps which I think will be enough but if it isn't I can double that. The reason I think it will be enough is I don't have to recharge the battery after starting and I have reduced my headlight/driving light load from close to 20 amps down to about 9 amps by replacing all the bulbs with LED's. The heavy loads now are the heater fan, wipers, and rear window defogger. I suppose I should measure the loads of those systems one of these days.

Replaced the front license plate holder and battery tie down - thanks mazdatrix. Plugged up the open ports on the air filter cover. Gave her a bath and took her cruising with the wife for a few hundred miles this weekend. Purred like a beast with the new RB exhaust system - Thanks RB. Next up - back end suspension renewal this winter.

BC Cleaned her up

Spent some quality time washing my 83 GSL and rubbed the hell out of her with a clay bar! My arms are sore but she feels sooooo much smoother now. Original paintjob can hold out for another year.

This week: replaced clutch master cylinder and started daily driving her again after being down for several weeks while I vacationed, worked, etc.

Feels great to be driving her again.

And.... I've got Georgia on my mind.

So I bought a 1980 Rx7 today. $800 needs a bit of work here and there.
Has a 13b from a 1988 rx7 with a weber side draft carb which I will be selling in a month or two.
I'll have pic next week. Looks just like my '79 just with a sun roof and black interior.

OK, so I'm eager to holler Ghetto when others do so, So I gotta turn myself in...
I got so fed up with my rattling door windows. I used peel-n-stick home trim in the door. It's quieter!

Actually, yes, they do. I was a member some years ago, and all I did was SCCA Autocross. You just send them race results once a year - print outs from the SCCA web page with your name and number on them work fine.

Sweet!
Looking forward to the pics.

I did get your message. I don't think I need anything just at the moment, unless there's a nice dash pad for cheap somewhere. Mine's got a Grand Canyon down the middle.

I called around looking for some replacement solenoids, none of them had an exhaust port, and all of them were at least $60+ each, which then would require a pressure relief valve in addition to vent back pressure when the solenoid closes. Yikes, complex lots of wires n relays. So instead I went on the internets and ebays and found these, ordered two:

I'm curious why you didn't just fint and air-ride compressor and small tank rather than messing with a CO2 tank that has to be filled. I picked up a compressor out of a Caddy pretty cheap years ago to use as on-board air for one of my vehicles, but never installed it. It has a small integrated tank, and is easy to wire up. About a foot long, maybe 8" tall and 4 wide. Many, many Cadillacs, and full-size Oldsmobiles had them in the '70s and '80s. Lincolns used them as well. Still do, I think, as well as Ford Expeditions with rear air bags.

Thanks Frankenrex. Sarge set me straight on that. After auto-x at the end of this month, I'm applying.

I took the FB out for some exercise yesterday after a 3-week long rest. Also took delivery of a set of dead mint maroon floor mats (pics to come later). Also got a one-piece wrap-around manifold for my 12A from Rotaryshack. I also have the Lake Cities manifold, so I'm probably going to stick with the LS manifold. That swap will happen sometime in Nov or Dec when I can arrange a day off.

I just finishing to convert my GSL-SE to DLIDFIS following the exact thread by Jeff20b (Thanks Jeff by thw way)

I'm adjusting the timing right now. I hope I will do a thread about that.

What I notice: More torque, better sound, slightly better idle. Unfortunately, I though my "gas smelling" should reduce more than that, but my gage (girlfriend) say no.

I'm proud because my setup is really clean and nice under the hood.

Picked up the new idler arm bushings and opened the hood. Sat them on the upper left corner of the bay where the corner of the hood rests...

Tomorrow they go in...

Acquired these last week:

Brand-new RotaryShack 12A one-piece side-draft intake manifold.

Again, I'm not sure if I'm going to use this or use the Lake Cities manifold.

Dead-mint OEM FB maroon floor mats:
