Scuffs on rotor and rotor housing :(

So finally got my 12a apart for the first time and how heart broken i was to see the scuff on the inside lol. On the rotor it’s self there’s two bad one but where the apex seal goes it’s bent way in i could only get a seal in if i pounded it with a hammer and the housing has a couple scuffs that may be able to sand out. I honestly not sure what to do here. And do not know of any place where i could buy a new rotor and housing. Any tips would be greatly appreciated but not looking for a “might work” but would love to hear it.

I am afraid both housing and rotor are dead.

You will have to replace both the housing and the rotor. That's a catastrophic failure unfortunately. You can create a want to buy ad here on the forum in the marketplace section and see if anyone has any good spare 12A housings and rotors.

dam i thought as much and i found a retooled housing on Atkins. And a used rotor on eBay not sure if it’s a good idea to buy from there? It also only seems to have that one ding in it not sure if it’s good?

Could Goopy save the rotors and or housings?

As someone who has never built an engine or tore one apart; I think that ding on the edge would be okay considering you can scallop rotors.

unless u plan on balancing the rotating assembly, the replacement rotor will need to be of similar weight.

if you mean the ones from the OP's original photos, then the answer is no. i've seen him do some pretty amazing things, but those parts are done. they're toast!

yes. if thtat's truly the only damage, then it can probably get sorted out for use.

Wow I think the term scuff is a bit of an understatement. Thats some nasty carnage. Looks to be almost through the steel jacket on the housing!
