SA/FB Interiors?

Post pics of your interiors I'd like to see what some of you guys have.

I just got my new gauges today, im on a budget since im basically restoring my SA so i had to get the glowshift. But i work at a shop that gets a good discount on them so they didn't cost maybe 50 for the oil pressure and water temp. and well a guy i work with has had his for like over a year nd they've been good

but anyways i wanted to see some ideas for a center console
i want to use the 84-85 center console with the a/c **** holes for my gauges
i have the console already so i thought i could use it...
but the problem is the gauges look to be about 2 mm too big =/

anyone ever used 52mm gauges here?

and can you post pics of some ideas to help if i can't get them to fit

never seen on the A/C *****, but i've seen them take the clock out and put a gauge there, seems like the 2" gauge fits nicely.

how did you get this painted? the gauge bezel that goes around the gauge faces...how does that come off or did you just tape off the circles?

You have to take out the cluster. The clear cover simply unscrews from the back and then the bezel comes out after that. Getting the cluster out is a bitch but the rest of it isn't too bad.

I have a nice stock SA interior, wouldn't change it for the world. The only mods are all hidden; remote locks, ipod cable to the stereo, new speakers, and a miata cupholder I can put in place of the stock console ashtray.

A miata cup holder in place of the ashtray? I'm interested, do you have a pic?

I bought it on ebay for $15.50 plus $8 for shipping. You just pull the ashtray and put this in. I don't use the big gulp holder insert shown in the picture.

Thanks Chris. Everytime I get in it, I travel back in time to that magical year when I bought this car as my first car out of school in the 1983. Paid too much for it used from a mazda dealership but I didn't care. I have modded the car significantly but my overall goal has always been to keep it stock looking on the exterior and interior.

Theres actually 2 things wrong in the interior that you can see in that shot. One is easy to see but the other requires a lot of familiarity with SAs to spot. Maybe I should start another thread for guessing so this one isn't jacked.

Good eye, give the man a prize. You got them both. Your an official SA lover. The seats are the originals under the covers and have a few rips. I was going to get the RB covers but I want them exactly like the OEM so I may just have an upholstery place that I've used for some other project see if they can recreate them correctly.

That leather sport is really nice and I love the gold waffles that they came with.

Yep, you got them both right on the money. I was actually surprised anyone else would notice the shift boot surround. Its a GS only item. I replaced tyhe old one many years ago with a surround and boot from a non-GS car in a junkyard because my boot had really gotten bad and the chrome was flaking terribly. Now I want it back Thats life.

Edgar, those aren't missing switches, those are coin holder divots. Came stock that way in the SAs.

I gotta admit I prefer the 84/85 GSL interiors, preferably in red leather

But I gotta admit that original SA style had some class

That's Tim's SA, of course

thanks, i saw it on mazdaverx post, i guess it was just the shades making it look like that i was thinking that was not like you to leave switches out lol
