Pictures from the 12-3-15 OGTA meeting

Terrific meeting this evening here in Atlanta Georgia, the rain held off, it was warm and the company was great.

A little too wet for some of the fuel injected 13Bs however.

Brett couldn't coax his green FD out of the driveway and didn't show.

Tommy had issues with his FE and had to use his steady and reliable backup, the Miata.

And Erica and Cam also came in a Miata, their FC's taking the evening off.

But Holly managed to get her FE to crank and Jeremy's white FD was up to the task and of course Flipper, equipped with SkyActiv technology, loves the wet weather.

But the FBs were the stars of the show.

James brought his beautiful wife Melanhie (sp??) and his one-of-a-kind custom-built turbo-boosted Nikki-fed 13B-powered red FB:

The rain really kills the crowd. Looked like a good time still! Where do you guys eat at the meet?

It was a slow night but worth every bit just to check out James' homemade turbo 12A and hear all the stuff he did to make it happen. The Nikki mods are based on Jeff20B's inventions and I thought the coolest part was the way he modified the intake ports on the 13B to accept a stock S3 12A intake manifold, totally ingenious:

The winter meets are always smaller, daylight savings time makes the parking lot meeting less interesting because it's hard to see stuff in the dark, people tend to be more busy, especially around the holidays and the temps can be on the low side, although that wasn't a problem last night.

I think the bigger factor for last night was that the weather report was predicting torrential downpours for the area right around the time of the meeting, which would be enough to discourage any reasonable person (but not a true rotor head). Fortunately the weather system slid by to the north and we had a fine evening. As a bonus, fewer people sometimes means more meaningful conversation, so I kind of like the smaller meetings, a chance to catch up.

We are currently eating at a place called Taco Mac, or Taco Hack, as we call it, since they don't actually serve any Mexican food. Before that we were meeting at a place called the Tilted Kilt (or the Shrinking Kilt, as we called it), which I kind of preferred for some reason.

Thanks Jeff, and for the Nikki Innovations, I'll be doing that next.

One correction concerning James' beautiful wife "Melanhie", which I totally botched.

Here actual name is Puspa Ariani Pande Ketut; Rya for short. She's from Mali, which sounds like a cool place to live.

^^^ interesting is a nice way of putting it.

The fajita thing I had a the taco hack wasn't so bad. The company at the tilted kilt is much more warm.

EDIT: I just saw in one of the pictures that I must have used a body bolt to affix the thermostat housing to the car.... oh well M8 is M8 in my book.

"I must have used a body bolt to affix the thermostat housing to the car"

The Rotary Gods would approve Jimbo, don't worry about it.

Dave, you keep talking about getting your *** down here, but you never do it.

How about telling the wife and kids you're going to DGRR this year?

I'll buy the beer and bring the GFs
