napa radiator hoses that much better?

Are NAPA radiator hoses worth the 100% markup over Gates and AC Delco? I know that Gates actually makes hoses for NAPA. The 14 year old NAPA starter is still good. That's much longer than the starters from Kragen/O reily's/ Advance Auto/AutoZone.

Looks like the Kragen/O reily's/ Advance Auto/AutoZone radiator hose is about to go. The smaller coolant hoses look OK.

i don't know what the price is, but the Mazda hoses are probably cheaper and will last for ~25 years, and they fit right...

part numbers might help

Thats what I think. Local dealer got me all new hoses and thermostat/rad cap and even the little rubber bushing around the heater core tubes at firewall pass through. If the Mazda stuff on my car lasted 30years, why do anything different.

But I did replace the crusty old clamps with Wave Seal style clamps.

>>>I received your request for a price quote for radiator hoses for your 1983 RX-7. Unfortunately our parts catalog no longer goes back that far. We are only able to service vehicles from 1986 and up. An aftermarket source will be your best bet on locating these items. Sorry we could not be of any further assistance. I hope you are able to find the items you are looking for.<<< from the Mazda Dealer.

so it looks like it's back to NAPA or Gates, is NAPA's mark up worth it?

Might be different from dealer to dealer, but all I do is phone in with an OEM Part Number and they order it. Part arrives in 2-4days.

Use the appropriate Parts Fiche for your year and Model and grab the OEM part numbers you want.

Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals

99.99% chance that the parts store hoses will work, I just like to have the extra piece of mind.

ie a 79-82 12A Upper rad hose is:

8871-15-511

If the part appears online from Mazda dealerships, that has meant for me my local dealer can get it in a few days.

That's BS. The radiator houses are still available, I bought them last year! Let me dig up the part numbers for you, where you can buy online from numerous dealers.

N231-15-521C
N231-15-511

Don't remember which hose is which. Also looks like the dealer shipped them from Canada lol.

the catalog only goes to 1986, but they can still get parts. we've tried to explain to Mazda that this is dumb, but well, last week there was no catalog at all...

the upper hose is N231-15-511 and the lower is N231-15-521C list price is about $29 each, Mazda Comp is like $18 each. Napa is a dollar off, and the upper hose looks wrong in the pics...

My local Mazda and Toyota dealers are the same way and don't have a searchable online catalog. Parking there is a pain in the *** so I'd prefer buying online.

Check a few Mazda dealers online that have a searchable parts department. Parts and shipping prices vary so compare a couple of different ones.

Do you have a part number for those rubber bushings?

Ya the heater core/firewall pass through grommets are 8871-61-219A. They are $4 each and worth the money! I got carried away and ordered as many new OEM parts as I could find, all the details add up. Mazda can even get all the bolts new if you are really picky.... (:

Thanks! And apparently they’re the same as the 90-97 Miata so supply is plentiful!

its basically all Rx7's, 1989-1997 MIata, and the 80's trucks. it was actually one of the parts they brought back to do the factory restoration program on the Miats

the 99+ Miatas use D201-61-239 which is almost the same thing
