PA How Much Did You Spend on Your 1st Gen and When Did You Buy It?

1984 GSL with 11 miles on it on February 17, 1984 ---$13,700 including sales tax, license and title fees. Currently has 117,980 on the odometer. Only car I owned until December 2008. My girfriend says she's gonna bury me in it.

Either you are referring to the car or a "resto" is some sort of spanish form of pleasure.

I just bought my second GSL-SE, it cost me $700. Drove it 6 hrs home, motor blew the next day. At least I had everything I needed for a rebuild. Soon to be back on the road.

Just found the original documents:
$14,503.26!!! Brand new with tax, title, license, and life insurance out the door on 8/20/1985! ......and the going interest rate then? ---> 14.0% <---

198,000 miles later we still own that same car!

Paid $500 for my 85gs in July of this year. Spent another $120 getting it home. Sold $375 in parts I am not using off of it so far, PLUS the car came with a complete deluxe swap kit from Granny's, aka the $1060 package on their site...so you tell me what I paid for the car.

$500+$120-$375-$1060 = -$815, so technically I got the car and $815 given to me when I bought it, had I bought everything separately. LOL. Now the car's got a running 5.0/T5 in it.

Yo bam6i4 -- big score on the sell-offs!! Welcome to the Club. You seem pretty smart with a positive value after purchase, how are you at managing a stock portfolio? Is it time yet to sell everything and invest into land banking, gold and rare NOS RX-7 parts?

$700 for 79 SA that did not run good. Bought it 9-15 and put 35 miles on it two days ago. I have spent an additional $1,000 on it in the last month but all in fun.

$1000 for my '84 GS an 8/10 looks wise and '85 parts car with it. Did nothing but smog and drive it until August, when I did the front end, oil, and leading spark plugs. My Keeper.

$500 Early '79 in 2/10 with recent rebuild on 12A, new clutch, GSL rear end, new tires, very clean orig. car, sold $1300 in 7/10.

Free GSL-SE from my Grandpa Jim, car was in fender-bender in 2004, and non op until Sep. 2008 when I got my license. Nice first car. Did new front clip and bodywork and tires, and other basic ****. Car pulled on right corners, needed new front end, had low compression, bad throw-out bearing, VERY slow acceleration. Sold it for $1500. Ha ha. Car was pretty clean, though.

lets see i got mine in feb 09 for 700$ cuz i blew my powerstroke up by lifting the heads with too much boost. Its a 82 GS and was all original with 270k miles. he said engine was rebuilt but im not for sure what exactly was done cuz i was rotary retarded at the time of purchase. just knew after i fixed some vacuum leaks, brakes, and clutch id had a total of 1k into it and it ran great. dailyed it for 6 months, fixed the truck and now its my baby cuz it did me so well for 6 months with not 1 problem. now my total is probably around 1700 to 2000 dollars and still climbing. money well spent i think!

Paid $800 for my '85 GS with 179,000 miles on original motor in 2004
Since then have put roughly 14k into it. Did SE suspension swap, all utrthane bushings, Blue shocks all around, SST sway bar set, RB intake with holley setup, RB full exahust, rebuilt streetported motor, Rack kit from Respeed, SE tranny, SE oil cooler, all lines are stainless steel.
Had fun doing it all, and now looking into turbo applications

This is what she looked like when I bought her

$800 for my GSL-SE. Rusty underside. But it runs great.

$1000 for the base no sunroof SA. No rust and the body is straight. It drives but I'm still iffy on driving it a lot but the motor itself seems to be in good shape.
