2002- 1983 GS for $800 with 150k on the odometer.

Seats are shot, needed new brakes ($450 later) and the horn cost me $200 to get fixed. Engine runs great now that i changed the plugs and wires and did the tune-up thing on my own. It made it from Tenessee to NJ with no problem before I did anyone of it! Anyone know where I can get some original seats in good condition? Red interior.

Bad headgasket huh? I think you should check the overhead cam. When you take it off, make sure the piston rings aren't fried.

WHAT THE F!@#$% !!!

Somebody edited both Fast7's response,
"That he had driven it down with a bad head gasket"
as well as MY Quote of HIS post where
I made the above lighthearted joke about it.

Is he a Mod's little brother or something?

Somebody doesn't want his feelings hurt?

Well? What then? Doesn't make sense..

Jeez.

Hmm. I typed what I see now as my response. What had you seen that got changed?

"Driven it down with a bad head gasket" was not something I put anywhere.

Not a mod's little brother, although BOOSTED 7 might have asked me to call him Dad a time or 2. :P

Paid $1500 for my 84 a few years back. I never regret buying it or the bucks I've since put into it. To me, if you love a car, then the money you spend on it is like spending it on yourself. ( although hopefully without having to rack up too much $$ on the credit card )

hey there,
I have an 84 GSL that I bought for $300 in 99'. I put an engine in it and have put over $3000 into it. I want to sell it. If anyone would like a first gen. that needs paint email me.( elbobo007@yahoo.com ) I'll sell it for $2495. It has some perf. upgrades like catback exh. The engine has 25000 miles on it. I also have pictures of it. If you email me i'll send you some.
Thanks
David

Ah, to live in the USA with all your cheap first gens...

My old 1983 S3 cost me AUS$1500: back when they were going for around AUS$9000, I got it cheap because the engine was blown and the guy was an IT nerd and knew nothing about cars.

My current 1985 S3 cost me AUS$17,000 a few years ago....but is worth it....previous owner had spent way over $40,000 on it, i've spent over an extra $10,000 on it above the purchase price...

Cam...
