well, i have heart that the IMSA decal was applied at the port by Mazda USA when the 7's arrived in the U.S.. some owners have even found the original backing under the sound insulation mat. someone was considering making reproduction decals. here's my thread from 03 about the sticker when i was all but a newb. has some info that might help you: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/imsa-gtu-sticker-244396/

That's scary reading that old post Dave, it goes all the way back to 2003!

Here's some photos of the stickers on my various 84/85 GSLs, they came in several versions:

I want to tint mine but I'm afraid they'll remove that sticker even if I explicitly tell them not to do so which is why I haven't done it yet.

^The tint would look funky around the sticker i'm sure.

Just remove it very very carefully & apply clear adheasive to it and re-apply...

Easier said said than done with an old brittle sticker, I'd imagine.

I would love to see those reproduced. If I could get a really good pic, I will ask my local guy about seeing what he can do. I would need exact dimensions.

someone would have to reproduce the sticker as they will never again be available from Mazda.

PA Decal Reproduction

I'd buy one. My '84, which I bought new never had one of those stickers. I do however have an RX-7 Club of America decal in the driver's side quarter glass. I am trying to figure out how to reproduce it since the glass is scratched and will probably need to be replaced. I haven't tried taking high res phots of it yet. I am concerned about perspective problems since the glass is curved. The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend so I may go collect the car and give it a try. My thoughts were that if I can get a good shot, I could horizontally flip it in photoshop and then print the now backwards photo on decal paper. That would allow me to adhere it to the inside of the window. Any thoughts on that idea? If it works, couldn't it be used to inexpensively recreate the IMSA decals as well?

I can probably make it if nobody is ahead of me already but I would need some education:

How many versions? Did each year have a different version? When did it start (year)? When did it end (year)?

thank you.

As far as i know, it changed every year, since mazda kept winning. i think it was 1980-1985.

On a side note, i wish i could find one of these posters!

Holly's got one of those posters (the one in the photo, in fact). I tried to get her to let go of it a few years ago but no.

I'll twist her arm again at the September OGTA meeting.

Here's some virgins of the IMSA sticker, from my various 84/85 GSLs

I greatly appreciate all the information. Based on said decals, would be correct for me to assume that the year printed in the middle would be the decal for said year. For example, the decal below is for 1982? And the above decal is for 1984 and so forth.

Furthermore, it looks like 1982 had two versions?

What are dimensions? 3" circular?

Thank you very much in advance.

Now that I look at them again, they shouldn't be that hard to reproduce..

Im still here, and I log in often now. I was really busy for a few months and was unable to enter the forum.

I still have the badge, I scanned and vectorized it, but I havent cut any overlays yet. I kept the envelope with your address and I will send you a couple for free as soon as I produce the overlays.
I´m sorry if I dissapointed you, I truly am, but my wife had a complicated pregnancy and our new baby is a full time job.

Sorry to hear about the complications ... Had some bad ones with my daughter nearly 3 years ago now. Hope the baby's doing well.

Any chance we can get vectors posted somewhere of each of them? I'd love to get a shirt made up. See them now and then on Ebay but never in my huge size.
