Finish on early wheels - what should it look like?
Maybe this belongs elsewhere in the forum, if so, please accept my apologies.
I have a 1985 w/ the "X" wheels (plus marks, not sure what to call them - the wheels that seem to be on most 83-85 non GSL-SE cars). I know they should be shiny with the satin finish on the recessed portion of the wheel.
My question is ... I managed to pickup a set of waffle style wheels, that I think were from a 1979 or 1980 RX-7. They appear to have a slight oxidation to them. Can I refinish these? If so, what should they look like in terms of luster (is that the right word?) Should they be a flat finish? Semi-gloss?
SA rims:
Insides of standard silver waffles - "spokes/face" should be satin-look, edges polished. couple of members here have good write ups on waffle restos, maybe they will chime in...
Yep and that silver paint can be done with the silver duplicolor wheel paint you can find in any auto supply store. It was almost a perfect match to my new OEM spare wheel I have.
