Looking sweet, sir.
Simple Green is okay if you rinse the hell out of anything you use it on - - as in rinse and scrub, not just wet it down. It's easier on plastic than brake cleaner is, and normally won't eat paints.
Brake cleaner is an indespensible, but it can be pretty destructive to some materials. I use it to strip rattle-can paint like the stuff was made of ricepaper.

i've been using teh brake cleaner mostly with no paint damage on the metal. i use simple green right afterwards so that the brake cleaner does not set in and damage the paint.

i got my new radiator hoses in yesterday and what i believe to be the final batch of parts i need on order so that leaves me with doing the fuel system next..
anyone with an SE can feel free to post pics of their stock fuel pump and filter as it sits in its location. that would be really helpful.

project is looking good dave, i did a complet swap on a car like that once it was not as fun as it looked but we got it done.
Some day I will add that color to my collection although I want to find an SE with Brown Leather interior (seems to be rarer than many of the others I pursue)

good buy
Man that looks like a good buy. Once you get that engine feed up and that engine compartment cleaned up plus a little interior work this car will be a riot man im jealous

well, after removal of the old tank and sender, with a thorough cleaning, regrounding and soldering of the sender, i installed the sender and the filler neck and new rubber hoses coming from the tank to the fuel lines. here's the tank ready to go into the car:
i decided to clean and undercoat under the spare tire well for improved sound deadening..and to prevent future rust issues:
and here's the tank back in the car. i will undercoat the bottom of the tank within the next couple of days:

i installed another conmplete wiring harness that i got from Doc yesterday. the dash should go in tonight (as soon as the 60K BTU heater heats up my car and a half garage) and everything should really come together quickly after that. i'll post pics of the nights progress.

well, after all that is left are to bleed the brakes, replae the front pads and rotors, install the oil cooler, radiator and supports, battery tray, e-brake vables, center section of the exhaust, put the driver's seat back in, put the rear interior panels back in, and fuel lines. there's really only a full days worth of work there. not too much. i still need to buy the fuel lines and figure out what i'm going to do as far as an exhaust center section. oh, and pray that the engine is good

well, while the carpet was pulled back so that i could run the new SE wiring, i decided to clean up the rust that i found on the floorboard. i sanded it down to bare metal, treated it and indercoated the floor with 3M undercoating.
here is a pic of the treated floor:
here is a pic with the undercoating:
here is a pic with all of the rear plastic, storage bins, and carpeting back in. all of it was out for the new harness..which i found out i didnt need and that the GS rear harness plugs directly into the SE harness:

thank you!
here are the pics of how she sits as of tonight. interior is completely in except for the defroster vents..i cant get them to snap back in..cracked the right side vent.. other than that, i'm replacing the spare tire. next step is replacement aluminum fuel lines and to bolt the pump up..as soon as it arrives. the oil cooler is being hot tanked, pressure tested and welded if any leaks are found. it will go in on friday, followed by the radiator, fan, shroud, and hoses.
