Engine won't start

I have a 1985 GS with the 12A engine. I recently needed to turn off the car before it had run long enough for the choke to release, and ever since the car will turn over, but it won't start. Could there be any connection between not completing the choke process, and the subsequent failure to start?

Check the spark plugs. They might have gotten fouled from turning the car off before it was warm.

The RX7 GURU himself. GSLSEforme, advocated keeping a set of spark plugs and tools in the car for just such an occasion. My "kit" includes plugs, plug wrench, waterless hand cleaner and shop towels. NEVER NEEDED, yet.

I agree that the engine could be flooded. I would remove the spark plugs and deflood the engine. Clean the spark plugs or replace them with a new set and you should be good to go.

The spark plugs were fouled as predicted. I installed clean plugs, and the car started on the third try. Thanks so much for all of the super-helpful advice.
