Is your choke working? And maybe your hot start assist.

When does it not consistently start? Cold, Hot?

What is your car? 12A 13B?

More info please

Dl a copy of the FSM available in the link in my sig

Q. My RX-7 won't start, where do I begin?
A. Pele has written a "book" entitled: End all for no start threads.

As found in the FAQ section-

I read the thread in the FAQ section and checked every thing in that thread it all works my question is what else could be preventing it from starting. I have also removed the rats nest via an online tutorial. Im new to working on cars so please be patient with me

Have you performed a fuel pressure/volume test?

Does the starter spin the motor nicely?

Does the engine start sometimes and continue to run well?

Open the hood, undo the blue cover on the air filter and look into the carb barrels. Do you see or smell fuel? Have someone pump the gas pedal a couple times or operate the accelerator connection at the carb). Does fuel squirt into the barrels? Usually an engine will fire and start on fuel from the 'accelerator pump', but pretty soon it will die and/or flood. If you get no fuel smell and no squirt the you've got a fuel feed problem, like plugged filter or failed pump.

If that's ok, then undo one of the sparkplugs and lay it on the shock tower in contact with the metal, and the spark wire attached. When you crank the engine you should get a nice spark at the gap.

While cranking does the open sparkplug hole make nice uniform whoosh-whoosh-whoosh sounds?
