Door Alignment

Got her 'as is'.

I'm replacing the weatherstrip on the doors.

The driver's side is not aligned.

Is this caused by a bad job hanging the door (its not original to the car)?

Or, is this a sign of frame damage/accident?

How can I tell?

What can I do?

I agree,
remove the drivers side inner fender to access the upper hinge to body bolts to see if they somehow got loose and slid back, allowing the door to sag. If you are lucky you can slide the upper hinges forward and get it to line up.

Be careful when fiddling with the hinges and closing the door. If it is misaligned and you push the door closed, it can bend the door fender edge. After making adjustments, hold the door and slowly close it watching the fender edge.

You can try to get some door hinges from a rhd rx7 without play. For example uk, jp or aussi. .
Normally the top hinges change will help.

I picked up some left side door hinges from Australia, glad that I did.
