I don't know how much I'd trust taking a fb around corners super fast with stock wheels, so skinny

maybe my decision will change once I get a fb but all my friends LOVED the way my fc handled, ripping around corners 3x the speed limit, they've seen other friends try that in other cars and start going out of control

The reality is that these car's can't run with most modern hot economy cars in a straight line or through twisty roads from a timed a to b standpoint The act of driving this car is so much more rewarding though, that at the end of the day, it's not important.

That's the whole point. The 1st gen is fun at any speed. You don't have to triple the speed limit to feel the edges of the car's envelope, the edges are more accessible and there's more communication getting to you when you're there.

the best 1st gen ive had, was just a stock 79, its a hoot, cant beat it.
current project is supposed to be fast, so we'll see if its more fun, or a bigger pain in the ***

Agreed with the above, you become one with the car. And Sgt Fox, I was just giving you credit for having a very sharp eye, one foxy guy you are!
Have I thanked you enough times for this website of yours?

I felt controlled (First day driving a FB) yet I only pushed it a bit, the FC I'd whip around the fb feels like it'll just go wherever I whip it instantly, punching the throttle on a corner results in the rear end slowly going out (Never felt a LSD) but I guess I feel it cause it turns great then once I leave the turn it snaps back from partly sliding
I gotta say though I feel like all other cars on the road could demolish my fb but maybe thats because it's so tiny, if I'm not super close to the wheel I can't push the clutch down all the way and I'm 6' tall head room is generous though
My only complaint about FB's, and this dates years ago to my brothers 79SA (We'd just hang out in it, I wired a radio in it, tons of door opening) God damn does it hurt when the top corner of the door hits you particularly in the chest got me, bloody too my GSL almost got me first time, I'll have to scold her

They can pretty much take anything you throw at it, and then some. Just turning it on and hearing the exhuast note brings a smile to my face, and makes me smile even more when some one asks "is it suppose to sound like that?"

All my friends digged it
Friends mom was like "chris what the fuuck!" "How did you get a older model of your old car?! IN THE SAME COLOR!!!"
magic hehe
I just want to cream myself when I look at it, my FC never gave me this joy, I've always wanted a RX2/3 and this car just gives me that feeling I never expected a FB to do that, and it's not even a "old school FB"
crazy how one day turns me into a FB lover :3

I had to revive the thread. I've had another one of those moments of clarity.
I've been driving this car for over 20 years now. I have (and have had) other cars that are faster, much more expensive, supposedly better handling, and supposedly better cars...
But I hadn't driven the Rx in a little while and was driving around town, helping my wife run an errand. I realized how much I was enjoying feeling the bumps in the road through the steering (R&P is a HUGE improvement) and suspension, the vibrations in the steering wheel and shifter from the engine, the hum of the exhaust, and the feel of the engine and brakes through the pedals. I just love the thing! They truly don't build them like this anymore.

I've driven some fun cars in my short life on this planet, one of them being a 2004 Mercedes CLK 55 AMG. Was it fast? Hell yes, could it handle? Like the road was glued to its tires! Was it Comfortable? Very, too much in fact...
When my first gen was still running I enjoyed how it felt to actually DRIVE a car. I could feel how the car was on the road, how much it gripped it, how little bumps affected the suspension and traction. The feel of acceleration and the G-Force in sharp turns. I could actually feel myself driving the car rather than just riding in it.
The Mercedes? As much fun as a 100k car is, it still felt like you were coasting at 30mph when you're pulling 100mph on the So-Cal freeways. You felt disconnected from the road and it was so cush that you almost forgot that you were driving at speeds that really need your attention.
Cars like these provide you with a raw driving experience that you will only find in 100K+ track only racing cars. At least that's my opinion.
