Does anyone else think the world would be a better place...

...if everyone had a 1st gen Rx-7!

I don't drive my Rx daily anymore, heck, I'm lucky if I get to drive it weekly. But every time I go for a drive, be it through the mountains or just around town, I come home with a smile on my face and I think to myself, "self, how could anyone driving around in one of these cars ever be in a bad mood?" It's so raw, mechanical, communicative, honest.

If Mazda had built enough of them, and everyone had one, I think we could bring world peace!

1st gens always make me happy, when i had my fc i'd always just go for a ride through the mountains taking her to 8k rpm and enjoyed everyone looking at my baby.

I think people should EXPERIENCE a first gen. I wouldn't like it if everyone around me drove the same thing. That's why I sold my civic.

But yes, first gens are pure raw. 2nd gens (especially the NA's) just feel like a camry, and third gens are in a world of their own.

I like feeling like I've discovered the ultimate cheap thrill and only a handful of others understand it and get to feel the same way. I like driving around going "I would be so miserable in any of these other cars, these people just don't know what they're missing". It' very exclusive, and I respect others that have discovered the secret when I see another 7.

They're faster and corner harder, but from a pure driving pleasure standpoint, they're not better than the 1st gen.

its just all about the feeling you get, and you're right, i have never seen anyone drive a first gen and be upset, they always have a big smile, and always happy to see someone else driving one. something you don't get with other cars

and as it has already been stated, that "primitive" feeling you get, no computers no control, just the most basic needs, and a clock lol

HOLY FUGGIN CRAP

That picture is beautiful.

In a first gen, you feel so damn connected to your car. Every other car seems as if it wants to mask what the road has to offer, instead of embracing it.

Just a little tid bit-

A week or so ago my friend was sitting in my car. We were just hanging out, and he started messing with the steering wheel, saying- "Dude, there's alot of play in your steering"

Little did he know, the front wheels where turning little by little.

I have not driven many other vehicles, so i don't have much to compare to, but i can say that driving a 7 is like nothing else. Arguably the best man and machine bond one can find.

the thing i like is that rays wheels always line up with each other...

yes the steering isn't perfect, yes a lot of the car isn't 'perfect'... but... that doesnt' mean its a bad thing!

My point exactly. Its the imperfections that provide such character.

have you seen his post where he points that out with like 13 pictures? His wheels really are magically linked or something.

The way that wheel alignment thing works is you go to the 1st Annual ZoomFest last year

(for this year's Zoom's, see:

https://www.rx7club.com/se-rx-7-forum-35/zoom-fest-09-date-has-been-set-802931/)

and this photographer takes about 10 pictures of my car going around the track and offers to sell them for $7.50 each. So one of these is this excellent shot of the White One with her wheels lined up so I bought it:

Then I go through the 100 or so other photos of the White One I have and pick out the 2 or 3 that have the wheels lined up, post 'em here on RX7club and boom, an urban myth is born.

Add people and politicians to this kind of stuff to us all the time.

And yeah, if everybody on earth drove an FB it would definitely contribute to world peace.

i believe you've created a good bond with your car when you don't even smell the fumes that much anymore, you just think that's "normal" but everyone else can smell you from a mile away lol. its like when you and your girlfriend get to be really comfortable and you both fart in front of each other

^One time i downed three cans of cherry coke while hanging out with my GF. I started burping uncontrollably when she wanted to make out. So I paused for a min and she asked if I was done burping. I said, "i don't know." So she leaned in for a kiss and as soon as her lips landed on me... I burped in her mouth

We looked at each other for a bit and we both bursted out laughing.

You guys up in Colorado and down east just don't get it, burping in your GF's mouth is funny, a shared experience instead of a point of separation (don't know of a single surviving marriage back in my home state of MA).

But then I guess that's why there's so many happy 1st gen owners down here.

Wheels are actually out by 1/4 revolution. The mazda is in different positions on each wheel.
