1981 RX-7 GS original owner, collector plates
Hi,
I would greatly appreciate if anyone knows where I could find screw caps (black plastic) for the dash trim (against the lower windshield area). There are 3 screws, one on each end and one in the middle. I have lost one.
I have attached picture (hope it fits) of my car that has just under 79,000. KM (under 50,000 miles). Always garage kept. All original. No accidents. Owned since new, July 1981.
Just wish BF Goodrich would make the 13 inch Comp TA again!
Thank you!

Welcome and congrauts on such a long ownership! Always nice to have original owners find their way here. This forum is a great resource and place to learn about Rx-7's and Rotary's in general. The trim caps for the three cowl screws are an odd size. I've sourced some in the past thru cars being parted out in the 1st Gen For Sale section. You might try phil's rotary out of Australia. They sell on eBay and charge a premium for shipping, but if you really want them without searching for a car to be parted. (getting harder to find). Here's a link: https://www.ebay.com/usr/phils.rotar...p2047675.l2559
Back in June, there was a post from a member who indicated that Radial T/A's are indeed back! Scroll down to the end of the thread: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...1090195/page2/
Good luck!

Welcome. Wow. An original owner. THAT is impressive
As Banzai sez, just about anyone on the Parts For Sale forum that is parting out an RX7 1st gen will prob have these. You will need 8 more Posts to get access to posting in that sub-forum. You could eat up a few here just posting some more pix
13's are indeed coming "back" to some degree, thank goodness. If you can forgo the BFs, the chinese radials are fine for normal street use. A set got me down from Alaska with no probs! I am now running Vredsteins, which are an excellent tire, tho $$...

Welcome aboard, and we should be asking YOU all of our questions based on your long-term ownership of this car!
My -SE is 2-owner, as my dad bought it new in Apr-1984. It was manufactured on Jan3, 1984 - a very short trip for shipping from Japan to Phoenix, AZ. He had been trying to buy a Pontiac Fiero 2M6 (transverse V6) from a local stealership and had put a deposit down on a car that never seemed to arrive, or had the wrong parts when it did. My dad got fed up, took his deposit back, and walked across the street to the Mazda dealership and drove away in my 84SE. Truthfully, he'd owned an RX2 many years before and had the early 12a engine replaced under Mazda warranty after about 12k miles (apex seal failure), and was so impressed by Mazda's handling of it that he was interested in the RX7. I can still remember going on that first test drive with my dad driving and my brother in the passenger seat with 13y/o me crammed into the rear hatch area. I was astounded at the sound of the car under acceleration, and the cool orange lighting on the dash made it unique. That first ride had me hooked at an early age, and I ended up learning how to drive a stick in that car and even took my driving test in it when I turned 16. I bought my 80LS at that time.
Back then, every car magazine was doing head-to-head shootout articles on the Fiero, the Toyota Supra / Celica models, and our RX7s.
I owned my 80LS through college, but no telling how many owners that car might have had. When my dad tired of driving his 84SE, he offered to sell it to me, and quickly swapped all of my 80LS auto-X parts over to the new(er) car and sold the 80LS to a forum member here for $1. The love is still strong, as I drove it in to work today, too - the perfect fall / winter / spring car for Arizona,
