how much did you spend on your 1st gen?

How much $ did you spend on the initial purchase of your 1st gen and when did you buy it? I bought mine for $1200 in 2001.

A steal at $1500 CAN in 1999.....I've personally put 50K on it and the only real repair that had to be done were the brakes, regular maintenace excluded. I shouldn't say this...something's gonna break now I'm betting it's the tranny.

Free 85gsl , coworker said i could have it if i wanted to mess with getting it running, main problem was clogged vac lines , broken windshield, rust in fuel, put about $300 into it, general overlooked maintenance. Runs fine now, body straight and no rust anywhere.

82 GS in 85, $7000
83 GSL in 92, $2000

The real question is how much have you spent since you bought your 1st gen. I try not to think about it. I lose enough sleep already.

1986- 1980 GS for $3500
1997- 1985 GSL for $250
2001- 1988 RX-7 Convertible with every option minus Auto for $3300

I bought several others in that time frame but never paid over $150 for them, they were cars either wrecked or with bad motor...

Wink How much

$2125.00 for a '85 GSL-SE with 139,000miles in May 2001. Needed a trans, picked one up for $125 I think, at a yard. To me it was a good deal.

Strictly 1st gen. speaking...

'79 RX-7 GS yellow - $100 in '99 I believe, traded
'84 RX-7 GSL-SE silver - free in '99, crushed
'83 RX-7 GSL LPG turbo - $1900 in 2000, parted out for $2000
'83 RX-7 GSL charcoal grey - $400 in 2000, put about $1500 into it, still around
'85 RX-7 GSL-SE orange (current) - no cost involved, traded for '71 RX-2 in 2002, still around

80GS-----------1987--------$2500 ran great
79 S-----------1991---------$500 blown motor
81GSL----------1993---------$500 blown motor
85GSL-SE------1996---------$2300 runs great

There have been a few "gimmies" and "haul this thing off's". But these are the 7's I have actually had more than a week behind the wheel.

Where does the list for REPU's and RX3's start?
